-Kiriu Tatsumi's point of view.
Half of the class was gone, as it was early afternoon and they had sports club, on the other hand, the remaining half of the individuals were patiently waiting for the math teacher to arrive to give the last class of the afternoon, but as the delay seemed to be eternal the topic came up.
They were talking about a rumor that had been going around the Internet for about a year and had become so popular that it had reached the mouths of the students of our humble... well, not so humble school.
I had already heard about it beforehand from a senior who had already graduated, but I didn't really understand any of the man's talk for two reasons. The first is that the guy is not good at talking, most of the words I heard as if they were babbling, and the second is because of how diffuse and scattered the information was.
But this, far from not awakening my curiosity about the rumor, it fueled it to such an extent that the motivation I felt at that moment had not run through my body for years. Only because of two simple words, "serial killings".
And there I was, in the middle of a circle of people that had formed around me and in front of me was my friend and interrogator Kujo Ken, who was sitting in the wrong way, leaving the back of the chair facing the front.
-So what do you have to say about the rumors?
-Ken-chan, the information they are using is incorrect, it is essentially a cheap copy of the original story -I said firmly- So I decided to intervene in the conversation and enlighten them with my vast knowledge on the subject.
-You... You should stop talking like that if you are not going to contribute much, surely you are going to make the same story, but with more "intellectual" words just to make us notice the difference in language.
-But the information that I bring you is true, you don't know how much it hurts me that you doubt me....
-It's okay, anyway, it looks like Professor Tanaka is not coming.
-Well, you see...
It all started when I inquired in an international website, the information was mostly false, but if you found the right people you could extract the right information, and a lot of it, by the way. So after asking several people about the subject and doing an exchange, they passed me encrypted txt files, so once all the information was gathered, I proceeded to decrypt it and put it together in a Word file, and to make it untouchable I converted it to PDF and proceeded to make a backup copy.
-Wow, that all sounds complicated," said Ken. 'If the files were so secure, surely the content written there could have some 'confidentiality", don't you think?
-Not really, it's just that the site, being international, has a very large community, so it is governed by different rules, think about it, at that moment where they were passing me the information, there could have been a child present. Can you imagine a child reading this information, clearly he or she would be traumatized for life.
-So how did your supposed "information" get into your hands without you being banned?
-The txt files were encrypted, very few people today know how to do that manually and most people who have tools for this are people in suits and ties, plus a moderator opens that file and sees all that amount of symbols, he just let it go unnoticed and even if he knew what it was, since most users have no idea what it is, he would just close the file.
-It seems complicated...
-Back on topic, here from this point begins the 2nd phase of the explanation. The truth about Code: Berseker.
-Man, finally! They were already going off the deep end and had me bored.
The voice that spoke those words came from behind me and it was so familiar that it was already a habit to listen to it, even if it was annoying and sometimes sad.
Everyone looked in the direction where the voice came from and to my surprise, leaning in a corner, was none other than Takanashi Riochiro.
Although when I took a good look at where he was I couldn't help but laugh, since he had his body completely leaning against the corner where the teachers placed the student who misbehaved in class.
-Look who's talking about going off the deep end, the man who recited 20 personal presentation sheets.
Everyone around me started laughing in a low light-hearted way, as "Riochiro's Personal Introduction" is known as one of the most epic stories ever told, but that will be a story for another day.
-What are you doing in that place, friend? Come and sit next to me.
At the very moment I said those words, Riochiro's expression changed from neutral to a more serious and somber one.
-No thanks, I'm fine like this, don't even worry about it.
At that very moment I looked Ken in the eyes and he shrugged his shoulders while shaking his head to the side, as a sign of "Leave it, it's no use". It's true, Riochiro, unlike me, still hasn't forgiven them since that incident.
-Well, then let's continue with the story- I decided to continue the conversation, but this time I took into account trying to extend the story with useless data about my investigation. -
Once I put all this information together, I proceeded to read it, the case about Code: Berseker which was divided into 3 different cases.
The first one started with the report of a couple returning from a party in Sector 13 Tokyo 5, both found decapitated and hugging each other while their clothes were hanging on a railing, everything was in place except their heads, since the woman's was near the crime scene, but the man's head was not found until 3 days later in Neo Shibuya, almost 9.5 km from the crime scene.
The 2nd case was, I believe, one of the most likely to spread such exaggerated rumors, since in an alley, again in Sector 13 of Tokyo 5, a trail of blood was found leading to the bottom of the alley, where the body was dismembered and its parts were scattered all over the alley, first an arm, then the head, followed by the torso and legs, of the internal organs only the small intestines and lungs could be identified, the rest was torn to shreds.
Later this case became known as "The First Crimson Star" and was the latest foreplay foreshadowing the impending spate of murders to come in Sector 13.
-Hey..." Ken said to me with a trembling voice, "That's a little out of line....
-Didn't you guys puff out your chests telling about a narcissistic killer who just killed for the sake of killing while narrating the 8th part of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"?
-Yes, but...
The whole room at that moment was silent, a strange aura of suspense and tension reigned in the atmosphere, this made my chest swell with pride as I thought "In the end if it was worth investigating".
-Hey, can I ask you a question?
But that feeling was instantly and mercilessly demolished by the expressionless Riochiro behind me. All that atmosphere I felt around me accumulated in my chest like an aura of disappointment, I would have been satisfied if at least this lasted about 4 seconds more, just that.
-I turned to Riochiro with apparent disappointment and sadness on my face.
-But he seemed to ignore me- How are these cases connected to each other? How can you know that the same murderer was the author of these two cases? Well, the methods of murder have many differences between them and they are not even the same style.
I had completely forgotten about that part!
-If the Kisaragi's butler thinks in such a professional manner, I think I'll have to start fearing the Kisaragi. No wait, you're already scary.
-Hey, don't talk bad about Rikka!
-Well, let's get back to the story," I continued, ignoring him completely.
"Revenge achieved".
Later I will have to thank Riochiro for refreshing my memory, I almost forgot to tell the part that made the information more credible, although I think these guys would have believed it with or without detail.
Well you see guys, the bodies mostly the skin and in the 2nd case the skin and organs, had carved in flesh the word "Life" in different languages, as much as the 1st and 2nd case turned out to have the same style of writing the letters, this is why it unites both cases.
And after these two cases, would come the 3rd, the big killing "The Night of 80 Crimson Stars."
-Tatsu, shouldn't the police intervene in these cases? -Ken mentioned while scratching his chin.
Obviously the police are not stupid and had already conducted investigation of the 2 cases mentioned, not to say that these two were not the first cases of murder, so they had already carried out the investigation.
Thanks to this they came to find the coincidences, as it turns out that all the victims of this subject were of the upper class, among them were politicians, singers, actors and unilateral members allied to one of the great 13 families, which also agreed with the place where the murders came from, that is, Sector 13 of Tokyo 5, this was the center of nightclubs and beautiful organized galas, so surely the murderer was lurking nearby.
With this in mind the police got down to work and applied a rigorous 3-week guard, everything seemed to be fine until...
One night a guard noticed a lot of silence in one of the central streets, and that was strange because all the nightclubs were open and in the main streets of Sector 13 the clientele was never missing, so he decided to go inside the largest nightclub there was to investigate and what he saw inside the room, was something out of common human sense, rather that panorama did not fit with what a human could have done, but rather, a demon, a beast, a monster.
Walls, floors and interior ceilings painted and splashed with the most putrid and darkest crimson red that could be seen, unrecognizable parts of corpses thrown everywhere possible and an exasperating and grotesque smell, the living portrait of "Hell on Earth".
That night the lives of 15 children of politicians, 8 first class ladies and 3 young girls were lost, the rest was almost unrecognizable enough to make an analysis of how many bodies were scattered around that nightclub, "UnReal".
-BEND DOWN, YOU BASTARDS, I'M HERE! -Suddenly the door of the room opened with a jerk and in it was a figure that could be seen as small, but at the same time imposing, no one knew that girl, so my first thought was to make me the idea that she was some kind of sadistic pervert who liked this kind of foreplay.
-Oh, Kitsuna, ohayo! -Until Riochiro spoke-.
He approached the girl and positioned himself behind her, passed his arms over her shoulders, brushing the tips of her short white hair, hugging her gently by the neck.
-...I remained in complete silence while I watched in amazement that scene-
-What's wrong Tatsu? You look very pale," Riochiro mentioned with concern.
"EHHHHHHHHHHH!"
An internal scream shocked everyone present in that classroom, since this was a fact, Riochiro with a friend, rather, WITH A GIRL.
It was already rare to see Riochiro talking to another person, I mean, that kid only has two people he could consider "friends" and that's in the whole school. And among those are me and Julius, a boy who is in another classroom.
-Ah, right," said Riochiro, "I'll introduce them, come closer Tatsu.
I stood up from my seat and stood in front of the two of them, who were standing at the classroom door.
White and frizzy hair like snow after a storm, her stature was relatively short, but there was something that made her look imposing, yes, a penetrating look through her transparent lenses with eyes of such a deep black that I could even see myself reflected in her gaze. For being small she was voluptuous, literally, the part of her body that most attracted attention were her breasts, big, no, huge, I wouldn't know what word to find for her size without sounding grotesque.
She was simply beautiful.
Looking closely at the appearance of Riochiro and the girl, the two have several characteristics they share, such as white hair or the penetrating gaze, I think I already know what is the relationship that the girl has with Riochiro.
- Your sister?
-No -He emphasize- she is my sister's friend, even, it was thanks to my sister that I met her.
- And what is she?
- My Kohai? -I rephrase it with a certain irony in a casual tone.
-I left my place in the center of the crowd and approached her and Riochiro. -
-Come on, let me introduce you," she said with a certain cheerfulness, "Tastsumin, this is Kitsuna Yui, Kitsuna, this is Koryuu Tatsumi.
-Your way of introducing us in so little formal, there is a lot of difference with your presentation of 20 pages.
-Shut up," she said momentarily.
- "20-page presentation? -Said Kitsuna, joining the conversation.
-Yes, hahahahahaha. -I cleared my voice after laughing a little- But let's leave that for another day, it's a pleasure Kitsuna-san.
-Likewise, Senpai.
And so the conversation flowed, until the afternoon classes started.
