Superhumans, humans tried to copy a miracle of god but they failed and thus they created their own miracle, a new form of evolution that would trigger the advancement of mankind through the use of chemicals and stimulation of the hormones in the human body to create genetically advanced humans with abilities.
Current Year: 2823, Day: Monday, Month: January 1st.
Vastez Klein, a student in superior city with no good looks and lacks any beauty or charisma and he is also fat and powerless making him a target for bullies in superior city, but what could he do, he was Vastez Klein the most ugly and powerless student in superior city. He took the Superhuman treatment since he was seven and now he was fifteen and a second year in Jules Academy.
He stared at a feather sent by his mother, it was of her pet crow signifying it has turned 30 today but a crow doesn't stay alive for that long of course, his mother's pet died years ago and she let go of it today and gave the single feather left behind by it to Vastez.
Students in superior city live in apartments that are called dorms and every student has their own way of taking care of things, despite being ugly and fat Vastez likes his dorm organized and not dirty and he also had posters of an inverted number which looked like a three. Vastez held the feathers upwards as he lay on his bed.
The feather was black and old looking, the more he stared at it the more he felt something was wrong, just as how he was about to lower his arms, his body suddenly froze still as if he was being held by an invisible chain, his eyes continued to stare at the feather.
Something strange happened, the feather was shrinking every second he did, he felt something forcefully invading his body, his head started to feel like it was being split apart.
it then all stopped, the feather disappeared and he started to slowly fall unconscious with a strange feeling overcoming his body.
...
...
...
The next day, Vastez woke up from his bed, his back feeling heavy as if they were extra limbs there, he slowly got up and he heard the sound of fluttering. he rubbed his eyes, after he retracted his hands from his eyes, his skin looked less fat...and more healthy, it was a fair colour.
He suddenly touched his fat belly and only found his stomach being flat, for a second Vastez stayed like that unsure of what was happening, he rested his back at the bedframe and felt his back not touching the bed frame, it felt as if he was touching something soft, he placed a hand on his chin and pondered.
"I awakened my ability, did i finally become a superhuman" Vastez was not freaked out by the two black feathery appendages that are now on his back, in fact he felt as if they were natural, but he definitely knows that is not.
"My ability seemed to have triggered through genetic stimuli so i must probably assimilated with the genetics of the crow" Vastez blinked. How did he come up with that conclusion, he isn't the type to come up with an immediate solution like that.
He tilted his head. "Did i gain the characteristics of a crow, Genetic Assimilation, hmmm i'll call it that, then...is it because of it that i suddenly have an intense urge to enact vengeance to all who wronged me"
He frowned for a moment then smiled, Vastez wasn't going to do such things, if he did get revenge it would just make him feel superior to everyone and everything and he liked not being arrogant, he got up from his bed and realized he may need to buy new clothes very soon lest he wants to tear them all, he stretched his hands his wings unfolding behind him showing their magnificence in front of the mirror.
His eyes were a deep blue, still the same as always thankfully and his black hair looked softer than before, he wasn't ugly now...nor was he handsome, he was average but had charm, now he looked like a teen with no muscles or skinny, he had a normal appearance if you exclude the wings.
Though he did not know why all the fat disappeared but he had a hypothesis it was because his body needed nutrients to 'develop' and a 'mutation' would happen. but then again this mutation seemed to have changed his mindset by a lot, he wanted to steal something shiny.
Vastez sighed and then went into the bathroom to take a bath...well he will find a way to do that on his own.
....
When he went out of the bathroom his hair was dripping wet and his wings were wet, he hated it actually, he realized getting wings wet were very uncomfortable, so he pulled out his heater and then sat behind it, he took his phone and opened the Superior city school forum where all student from different schools in superior city could interact.
The forum was as lively as ever, filled with discussions about abilities, training methods, rankings, and of course, gossip. Vastez scrolled through the posts absentmindedly, occasionally shaking his wings to speed up the drying process.
One post caught his attention [The slaughterer takes out Mikahra Academy and all it's students in a bloody hole filled with bodies]
Vastez clicked on the post, his curiosity piqued. The title was dramatic, but that was typical for the forum. As he read through the details, his expression darkened.
Mikahra Academy wasn't just any school—it was one of the top five institutions in Superior City, known for producing elite superhumans. The fact that someone managed to wipe out an entire academy in a single night was beyond terrifying. The post had blurry images of the aftermath—charred buildings, shattered glass, and bloodied corpses. No survivors.
"The Slaughterer…" Vastez muttered under his breath. He had heard rumors about that name before—an unknown superhuman who had been eliminating people across the city. But no one knew their identity, their ability, or their motives.
As he continued scrolling through the comments, he noticed a pattern. Some students were terrified, others were in denial, and a few were disturbingly excited, treating it like entertainment.
[User: PhantomX] - Another weak school bites the dust. Survival of the fittest. This is how it should be.
[User: KuraBlitz] - Wtf dude, people DIED. This isn't a game.
[User: Zero_Wing] - The government is covering it up. They're not even reporting it on the news.
[User:Kleopatra] - Then it will only makes sense that this was one of their experiments and seeing it's 'success' they covered it up.
[User: KuraBlitz] - FUCKING BASTARDS.
Vastez felt a huge earthquake that lasted for about three seconds...Did Kuro do that...Vastez wondered what rank he/she is.
[User:Kleopatra] - Girl calm the fuck down?!.
Vastez leaned back, gripping his phone tightly. The government covering up massacres wasn't surprising, but the idea that this might be part of an "experiment" made his skin crawl. What kind of experiment wipes out an entire academy?
He sighed, closing the forum and staring at his own reflection in the mirror. His transformation was still fresh, and he hadn't tested the limits of his new abilities. If this "Slaughterer" was really an experiment gone rogue, then he had to be careful.
His wings twitched. He still wasn't used to them. He flexed them slightly, feeling the unfamiliar muscles move. If he wanted to survive in this city, he needed strength. Real strength.
Vastez's stomach growled, snapping him out of his thoughts. "Right… I need to eat." He stood up, stretching his limbs, and grabbed a shirt and tore small holes behind them with a scissor before slipping it on. His wings fit awkwardly through the makeshift openings, but it would have to do for now. He made a mental note to figure out proper clothing adjustments later.
He grabbed his coat and left his dorm, stepping out into the cold Superior City morning. The air was crisp, laced with the faint hum of hovering vehicles and the distant chatter of students heading to their respective schools. The city was always awake, always buzzing with the presence of superhumans.
He walked into a nearby convenience store he always visited in the morning, he opened the door making the bell chime and then walked up to the counter, there he made his way to one of the stalls and took a box off cookies.
All in while a timid looking girl with pink hair was staring at him, she was the cashier and she knew every regular that came to this store and there were only three people that always come to this store at this hour, so who was this?!.
Vastez felt the girl's gaze on him before he even turned to look. His newfound instincts, sharper than before, picked up on the shift in attention. He wasn't used to being noticed—at least, not in a way that wasn't full of ridicule or disdain.
The pink-haired girl, wearing the standard blue-and-white uniform of the store, fidgeted slightly as he approached the counter. Her large green eyes flickered between him and the small holographic register screen in front of her.
Vastez placed the box of cookies down. The girl hesitated for a second before quickly scanning the item.
"U-uh… that'll be 3.50 credits…" she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Vastez raised an eyebrow. "Shira, why are you acting strange all of a sudden, weren't you reprimanding me yesterday for always eating unhealthy food?"
Shira's eyes widened in shock, her fingers frozen mid-tap on the register screen. "V-Vastez?!" she squeaked, stepping back slightly as if seeing a ghost.
Vastez smirked slightly at her reaction. He was used to being ignored or looked down upon, but being unrecognizable was a new experience.
"Yeah, it's me," he confirmed, shifting his wings slightly to prove his point. "Just... had a bit of a transformation overnight."
Shira stared at him, her expression a mixture of disbelief and fascination. "No way. This—this isn't some kind of superhuman surgery or illusion ability, right?" She leaned in closer, inspecting his face. "Your skin… your eyes… even your voice sounds slightly different."
"Guess I finally awakened my ability," Vastez said, shrugging. "Took long enough."
Shira's gaze dropped to the wings at his back. "That explains those, but…" She hesitated before speaking again. "You feel… different. Not just physically. Something about your presence is… I don't know, stronger?"
Vastez tilted his head. "Maybe. Or maybe you're just paying attention for the first time."
Shira's face turned slightly pink, and she quickly finished scanning his purchase. "3.50 credits," she repeated, looking anywhere but his eyes.
Vastez tapped his phone against the scanner, and the payment went through with a soft beep. He grabbed the box of cookies and turned to leave but hesitated.
"Shira," he said, making her look up.
"Yeah?"
"You're one of the few people who never looked down on me," he admitted. "That means something."
Before she could respond, he walked out of the store, the automatic doors sliding shut behind him.
As he walked back out, he looked at the patrolling drones in the sky which were descending right in front of him.
[Student no.23933, you have gone through a change, answer so we can clarify]
Vastez did not like these annoying drones but knowing they could easily get him he complied. "I developed my ability last night when I realized I absorbed the genetic properties of a crow, I call it Genetic Assimilation...but I don't think I can activate it again though"
The drones hovered in silence for a few seconds, scanning Vastez with their glowing blue lenses. The hum of their propulsion systems filled the air as they analyzed his response. Then, a mechanical voice replied:
[Genetic Assimilation: New Ability Detected. Classification: Unknown. Status: Under Review.]
Vastez narrowed his eyes. Under Review? That was never a good sign.
[Proceed to Jules Academy immediately for further examination.]
A sharp clicking sound followed as the drones activated their enforcement protocols. Vastez clenched his jaw. He knew better than to resist them—students who disobeyed the drones often disappeared for weeks, only to return as shells of their former selves.
With a sigh, he spread his wings slightly, adjusting to their weight. "Fine, i was going there anyway" he muttered, turning towards Jules Academy.
