Dash's eyes widened instantly, staring at me in disbelief.
"N... Naomi, what are you doing here?"
"You..."
Under my cold gaze, he released my hair and nervously helped me up, still clinging to a shred of hope.
"I thought you worked at Mayo Clinic. How did you end up in such a remote hospital?"
I sneered, looking at Meadow behind him.
Dash recoiled like a startled animal, stepping back to shield Meadow.
"Naomi, it's not what it looks like. I can explain."
Meadow clutched her stomach and slowly crouched down behind him. "Dash, my stomach hurts so bad..."
Dash couldn't hold back anymore. He turned and scooped Meadow up in his arms.
"Naomi, Meadow's going into labor. I'll explain everything later!"
Dash frantically called for a doctor. He said he'd come back to explain, but he never showed up again.
Bored out of my mind at the hospital, I called my lawyer friend to discuss divorce proceedings in detail and draft a divorce agreement.
