Chapter 8: The Reunion

A few weeks later, Emma was invited to a prestigious art event. It was a charity auction featuring works by some of the most famous contemporary artists. Emma, who had been working hard to build her reputation in the art world, couldn't pass up the opportunity.

As she walked into the elegant venue, she immediately spotted Ryan across the room. He looked as handsome as ever, dressed in a sharp tuxedo. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still.

Emma's heart started pounding. She wasn't sure how to react. But before she could turn away, Ryan made his way towards her.

"Emma," he said, his voice soft. "It's good to see you."

"Hi, Ryan," Emma replied, trying to keep her composure.

They started talking, and as they did, all the feelings they had tried to bury came flooding back. Ryan apologized for not standing up for her against his mother, and Emma admitted that she should have been more understanding of his situation.

"I never stopped loving you, Emma," Ryan said, his eyes filled with sincerity. "I made a huge mistake, and I hope you can forgive me."

Emma looked into his eyes and saw the love that was still there. She realized that she had never stopped loving him either. "I forgive you, Ryan. And I love you too," she said, a tear rolling down her cheek.
