The battlefield was drenched in blood.
Zero stood among piles of corpses, his body untouched, his breath steady.
The C-rank and B-rank hunters had already fallen. Their screams had long faded into silence.
Now, only the A-rankers remained.
There were ten of them.
But Zero… was not afraid.
One of the A-rankers gritted his teeth. "Damn it… he's a monster!"
Another took a cautious step back, sweat trickling down his face. "We should retreat—"
But before he could move—
Zero vanished.
Shadow Hide.
"Where did he go?!" one of the A-rankers shouted, his eyes darting wildly.
Then—
"Behind you."
SLASH!
The hunter barely had time to turn before a sharp claw tore through his chest.
Blood splattered across the floor as his body collapsed, lifeless.
"Tsk. Too slow."
Zero's cold voice sent shivers down their spines.
"He's playing with us!" one of them shouted in terror.
"Spread out!" another ordered.
But it didn't matter.
Zero activated all his skills at once.
Blindness.
A dark mist spread across the room.
"Aghhh! I CAN'T SEE!"
Panic filled the remaining A-rankers as their vision went black.
"Stay calm! Use mana detection—"
SHRRIP!
Too late.
Shadow Claw.
A single swipe—and three more A-rankers dropped dead.
The others tried to counterattack. Fireballs, lightning bolts, and wind slashes tore through the air, but Zero was already gone.
He moved like a ghost.
Silent. Unstoppable. Deadly.
One by one, they fell.
Within minutes—only two A-rankers remained.
They were bleeding, trembling, barely able to stand.
Zero walked forward, his cold eyes locked onto them.
"Pathetic."
He raised his hand to deliver the final blow—
"Stop, Zero."
A deep, authoritative voice echoed through the hall.
Zero froze.
He turned toward the entrance—
And saw a man standing there.
Tall. Commanding. Unshaken.
His piercing golden eyes burned with power. A long black coat draped over his muscular frame, giving him an almost regal aura.
Two A-rank guards flanked him, their expressions cold and fearless.
Zero could tell instantly—this was no ordinary enemy.
The man stepped forward, his boots echoing in the silence.
"You've destroyed my organization."
His voice was calm. Too calm.
Then, he smirked. "But before you die, let me introduce myself."
Zero's gaze remained firm. "Who are you?"
The man spread his arms slightly. "My name is Brock. Founder of this organization."
Zero's expression darkened. "An organization? Or an experimental lab?"
Brock chuckled. "Ah, so you've seen it then."
Zero clenched his fists. "You kidnapped children and experimented on them. Are you even human?"
Brock's eyes turned cold.
"Shut up." His voice carried a dangerous weight. "I do this for humanity."
Zero's rage simmered. "For humanity? Don't make me laugh."
Brock took another step forward. "You don't understand, Zero."
His voice was calm—but filled with a terrifying conviction.
"The world is changing. Beasts are evolving. S-rank dungeons are appearing everywhere. The creatures inside… are getting stronger."
He locked eyes with Zero. "Do you really think we can win with just one element?"
Zero remained silent.
Brock's lips curled into a sinister smirk.
"We need warriors with multiple abilities. If we don't adapt, humanity will be wiped out."
His golden eyes gleamed.
"That's why I experiment on these children. To give them power. To give the world a future."
Zero's fingers twitched. "You're sacrificing innocent lives."
Brock let out a slow breath. "Sacrifice? I call it necessary evolution."
Zero's anger flared.
"You're no savior. You're just a madman justifying his crimes."
Brock sighed. "Tsk. I was hoping you'd see reason."
Then, he smiled.
"Join me, Zero. With your power, we can reach another level."
Zero stared at him.
Then, he laughed.
A low, mocking chuckle.
"Hahaha… Do you really think I would accept this insanity?"
His laughter stopped abruptly. His eyes glowed with fury.
"This is nonsense. I will never accept it."
Brock's smirk faded. "I see. That's disappointing."
His voice dropped, filled with killing intent.
"Then you will regret it."
Zero didn't hesitate.
SHING!
Two A-rank hunters collapsed, blood spraying from their necks.
Brock barely blinked.
Then—he smiled.
"So be it."
The air grew heavy.
A terrifying aura exploded from Brock's body.
Zero's instincts screamed.
This was different.
This man was no ordinary A-rank.
He was something far more dangerous.
