'This is my freedom at last,' I thought. My heart was delighted shortly until I remember I knew no direction to take. The forest of Dengek covered a huge swath of land that I can't measure or determine which part of it is closer to human settlement. Therefore, fleeing at this slight opportunity will be a suicide mission. What I end up being eaten by a wild beast of the night? What if I fell into the hands of very bad people. What if I end up again in the hands-on "Revolutionists" while attempting to flee from many friendly werewolves than they were? That will be catastrophic if I'm ever caught by the zealots again. This time around, they will leave no stone unturned. They may decide to rule off burning me on the stake. After learning from their mistakes, they will never waste their time in having me killed. My head could be chopped off and paraded on the streets back in the town. A disgraceful death.
If I think the other way round, with regards to the Werewolves. Should they be caught me after unsuccessful attempts to flee, the little friendly gesture I have received from them, especially Alpha Ammon will automatically change. They can never trust me again. They will only keep me alive until I break his curse. But after that, I'm sure the prospect of keeping me alive or setting me free will be off their table.
I found myself in an awful dilemma. There was no motivation whatever to escape again. To worsen the whole situation, Alpha Ammon appeared out from nowhere, thereby dashing all my hopes of escaping.
"I can see that you have been standing there for so long with the pot you were washing stuck in your hands, would you mind telling me what you are thinking?" Alpha Ramon requested.
His question, no doubt made me realize he had been watching me for a long time now. He had not disappeared as I thought previously. Rather, he observed me secretly, while I cooked in his kitchen.
Meanwhile, I was silent. Confused about what to tell him, simply continued rinsing the cooking port in my hand.
He advanced in my direction, "I just asked you a question witch. What were you thinking? Were you thinking about how to make broth soup? Have you forgotten the procedure or do you need a helping hand?"
His effort to get me into talking to him failed to materialize. I was not interested to share with him what I was thinking because I know the dangers involved. Sharing with him my inner thought is the same as shooting myself an arrow to my feet. Therefore, it's better to remain silent than to open up my secret plan to him.
While I ignored him, he walked very close to me and held my neck roughly, turning me around to face him even though, I was holding a cooking pot in my hand. I met a furious look on his face when our eyes were near each other. The Alpha meant business. He had taken his questions so seriously.
"What were you thinking, I repeat?"
"How can I tell you that when you are holding my hair and causing me an unknown pain?" I retorted.
In anger, he pushed me away from him. "Now tell me!"
"Nothing very serious. I only remembered a story that lady Gia once told me. It had a striking resemblance with what is going on here now," I lied to him. I had thought, 'that's the only thing he may like to hear.
"And what about the story, witch? Tell me about it?" He demanded.
"I can't remember all Lady Gia had told me. I only managed to remember the sweet part which was also, the end part."
"Oh I see," he nodded as if he was pleased. "So tell me, what happened at the end part that made the so-called story to be sweet?"
"Freedom was achieved at last. That's the sweetest part of the story like I had told you before."
"Hmmm! The story you are talking about must be interesting. Please throw more light," he said. He moved two meters away from me. "Tell me the whole story, will you, please?"
I couldn't believe what the alpha had requested from me. Did he just ask me to tell him one of the bedtime stories which Lady Gia used to tell me when I was small? "Okay, fine! I will tell you," I began to narrate, while he listened:
"Teddy was only ten years old when his mother and father were murdered by the dreaded ancient vampire, Mura who was 2000 years old. The vampire prefers to feed on the blood of little kids, to human. When Mura invaded their home that day, in the middle of the night, she requested that they should hand over their children in exchange for their own life. Teddy's parents refused to yield to Mura's demand. They refused to show her where their children were hidden. They had gotten a piece of information about the activities of the vampire lately, in the village. Therefore, they had prepared for her if she shows up. The old vampire got angry and kill them both. Mura proceeded to search the house but found nothing. However, she refused to leave the area because, she could smell the little kids around but, she has not made any good progress to fish them out.
Teddy had a little brother who was 6 years at that time. Together, they slowly came out from the basement they had been hiding in. They tiptoed and took their heels through the large forest nearby. Only then did the vampire realize the kids had escaped. She followed their trail and chase after them.
After running for minutes crying and unsure which way to go again, Mura caught up with them. But just when she was set to kill and suck their blood, a group of werewolves hunting that night appeared from nowhere to put an end to the ugly inc
ident that could have occurred."
