It has been three days since the virus outbreak and the tension was high up, people were still in their houses, only coming out occasionally.
Every few hours, there will be an outburst from an area as more and more people became infected.
Now the people more or less didn't care about the cultivators, and the cultivators were also in a panic as they could no longer cultivate - as the moment they attempted to do so, they become infected.
News had passed through the cultivators that three of their half-immortals and some other powerful cultivators had tried to generate their Qi but instead they got infected by the dark Qi and had become just like those infected humans.
To think this world that they had originally looked down upon was more than capable of claiming their lives.
Therefore, they had opted to live as normal human and only use their Qi in times of danger- as once they depleted their Qi, they'll be unable to replace it.
In the hospital, all the personnels were dressed in full kit protective suits- no parts of their bodies were visible.
After a couple of outbreaks they had become more and more cautious, the already gloomy atmosphere became intense.
Due to the outbreak, and seeing it was the last semester in the year-all final year medical students that had gone through full review were given their license ahead of time.
Bella just happened to be one of them, the 23 year old now medical doctor was currently aiding another doctor to deliver a baby.
As she handed over the needed equipments to the lead doctor, she could feel cold air on her nape - and she was fully covered from head to toe.
For the past two to three days, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was being followed.
Just that morning, she had gone to the security room and checked through the footages, if she could find someone acting weird behind her. But to no avail.
Next, she asked one of the soldiers under her father's command to observe from a distant and catch this stalker, but again, there was no result.
Now as she was assisting the lead doctor, she could feel the eyes on her. The hospital psychologist had told her that she was too stressed and had become paranoid and therefore she needed to have a good night's sleep.
Her heartbreak, then this virus outbreak and the fear of being attacked by infected people might have caused this.
Even Though the army was making rounds and clearing the city and it still was liveable but something told her that this truce might breakdown and soon.
Bella's shift ended at 8pm and she decided to pick up a few things before going back to her home, she no longer had her dorm room. She arrived at the baracks gate and went through many physical checks before she was allowed to enter the baracks.
She had entered a tent and taken off every piece of clothing she had on, as the female soldier checked her for any bites.
Next she wore her clothes and passed through the sterilization room - as was the new rule.
Most other areas might not have such advanced security but this was the military headquarter barracks, so they were very strict.
She walked out of the security room and finally entered the baracks.
Just as she was about to call out to a motorcycle she heard an energetic voice call out "Princess".
The tiredness immediately disappeared as her face lit up, her lips arched into a soft smile. She turned around and came face to face with a fully armored soldier, his badge showing that he is a General.
"Dad" she called out, rushing into her father's arms. "I was so worried about you" she wined.
"Sorry princess, but duty calls." His left hand tucking a hair strand behind her ears.
"But guess what, I have the next two days off" he continued, taking the groceries from her hands. She hastily helped him hold the grocery and marched behind him as they entered a jeep and drove to their apartment.
Her father being a high ranked general meant that they had the luxury of living close to the heart of the barracks.
They soon arrived at their house and the two maids came out and collected the groceries from them.
"Bella, you should've just text me instead of going to get these groceries on your own." The older one of the maids spoke out, a loving smile on her face.
"It's okay Ms Linda, I would appreciate it more if you stay indoors during these troubled times."
A short silence passed through the three, as flashes of the virus distruction pervaded their minds - especially General Bakie, who had been out leading the clearing team for the infected people.
"Okay, okay!" A short chuckle broke the silence as Linda patted her shoulders. "Why don't you two freshen up and the cook will prepare supper" Her smile from earlier now placed back on her face.
Bella nodded and headed inside the house, she placed her hands into her pockets and noticed that she had left her phone in the Jeep.
Bella who was already on the stairs groaned and headed out again, she pushed the doors opened and saw her father still standing before the jeep, his back facing her.
" Dad?!" She called out and walked outside.
The general's back visibly stiffened and she arched her eyebrow wondering why.
"What is it sweetheart?" He asked, his voice low and hoarse.
"I left my phone….in the Jeep" she replied, still walking close to him.
Suddenly, a small figure emerged from behind hbetween him and the jeep and Ms Linda hastily gathered the remaining groceries.
" I- I will do as you say, Sir" she said and then quickened her footsteps, her eyes on the floor as she passed by Bella and entered the house.
Bella knitted her eyebrows as she thought back to the Maids strange behaviour.
