7 - Emotions

Bella rushed up the stairs giggling.

"You!" A helpless voice shouted behind her.

She soon reached her room and closed the door behind her.

Her playful look immediately dropped and a worried look took over.

"Dad, I hope that never happens to you" she mumbled, walking to the window and taking a seat on the couch facing outside.

She slowly sipped her tea as her mind wandered back to the past few days. Her life had gotten turned upside down in a matter of moments.

Her eyes fell on her curtains, a forest green colour with plain patterns. She hated the colour green, she loved plants and other things, but her personal belongings - she hated them in the colour green. Yet her curtains were green.

She got up and looked around her room, it was not only her curtains, her wall arts, her table mat and her WARDROBE. Her wardrobe was filled with mostly green colours.

"When did I start adding green to my personal belongings?" She closed her eyes thinking back to the first time she bought a green item.

A fond memory popped up in her mind and her heart twisted in heartache.

It was two years ago, she was seated in the canteen when a coursemate had shown her some dresses on sale.

She had initially chosen another colour when Dr Jabbie had suggested the green one.

"Why the green one?" She had asked, despite not wanting to choose that colour.

"I think you'll look great in green, or maybe I'm just biased because it's my favourite colour" a soft chuckle escaped his lips.

Bella zoned out for a moment, her whole mind focused on the slight movements that he made. Her heart beat faster and she felt giddy inside, she has known him for long but this was the first time he spoke to her first on something other than academics.

Was this it? Was she finally getting his attention?

"Bella, which one?" A voice asked from a distant place. " Bella?"

She jumped when her shoulder got shaken. "Oh sorry!" She smiled, ignoring the awkwardness caused by her inattentiveness. "I choose the green"

She caught the slight smile that formed on Dr Jabbie's lips when she made her choice, her heartbeat paced up and she felt the fluttering in her stomach.

"Thank you for the suggestion?" She said after her coursemate left.

He just smiled back at her and went back to his food.

She had worn the dress two days later when she had his theory class. She was very aware of how his eyes roamed her body when she entered the class in that green dress, and she loved it.

Since then, she unconsciously wore more green. And then she even started designing her room in that green colour she so hated.

Now standing amid the overwhelming green, she felt pathetic. The urge to tear it all away clawed at her.

Had it been a few days earlier she wouldn't even hesitate and would've gone shopping, but now with the whole Zombie virus, it was not the time to be willful.

"Bella" a soft voice called out to her.

She immediately schooled her expression and called out for the person to come in.

Ms Linda walked in wearing fitted gym clothes, unlike the other households in the barracks, General Bakie made it compulsory for his staff to be physically fit and hence allowed his well equipped home gym to be used by all.

Looking at Ms Linda, Bella concluded that she was headed to the gym. "Isn't it a bit too early to go to the gym?" Bella asked, glancing at the clock which showed 5 am.

"I woke up early," she replied with a small smile. " Can I sit?" She asked motioning to a couch.

Bella nodded her agreement and Linda took a seat next to where she was seated earlier.

"Did my dad send you here?" Bella asked to take her seat earlier.

"He's worried about you." A concerned smile formed on her lips as she faced Bella.

"It was just a nightmare, I'm fine" Bella chuckled trying to hide her emotions inside.

"It's not just about your nightmare. I know the virus has taken everyone by surprise but..." a sigh escaped her lips and she stretched her hands holding Bella's free hand.

"Bella, I have been your nanny since you were nine. My instincts tell me this outbreak and that nightmare is not all there is" she took the teacup from Bella's hand and poured a bit on her hand.

"You're holding on to a cold tea, seeing that it's almost full, you've barely drunk it. And you love tea"

Bella felt her walls breaking and she leaned back on the couch and a pained look crossed her eyes.

"Bella, Dear. You look heartbroken. Did someone break your heart" Linda leaned forward until she was closer to her.

The room fell silent. Linda leaned in towards Bella, a patient and understanding look on her face, and Bella leaned back on the couch, her defenses slowly crumbling as she fought back the tears.

She had already promised herself that she would never cry over him again, ever but here she was about to cry when she wanted to speak off him.

"I hate the colour green" she finally spoke after a few minutes. Her eyes burned with tears threatening to fall.

"I used to think so as well," Linda replied, looking around her.

"So why is your room green themed?" Linda asked, knowing that was what Bella wanted to speak about.

"He told me his favourite colour is green" Bella choked out, her tears falling down.

" Oh" Linda got up and sat on the couch's arm, embracing her into a hug.

Once Bella calmed down, she narrated the whole ordeal to her nanny. Linda's heart wrenched as she listened to her.

As someone in an unrequited relationship, she understood how Bella felt. Although on her end, the man was clear about his feelings or lack off, and his stance.

But this young lady in her arms, she fell in love for the first time and yet she was deceived in such a way. Maybe she might have been delusional on some parts but still, that man is a scum.

Unknown to the two ladies, two pairs of ears were listening to their conversation.

Coco trembled in anger as he finally figured out that he had a look alike who had hurt his beloved's look alike. The irony!

"Zac" he called out to the half immortal beside him.

"We have someone to visit" he snarled, his Qi already leaking.

A knowing smile crossed Zac's lips, "Yes, Junior Brother"
