Chapter 20: The First Confrontation

The intense battle continued in the abandoned warehouse. Irene and Hawk fought a life - and - death struggle with the armed men. The warehouse was filled with the smell of gunpowder and blood. Abandoned debris flew everywhere in the fire, and the walls were left with a dense array of bullet holes.

Irene's arm was grazed by a stray bullet, and the blood stained her sleeve, but she didn't feel the pain at all. There was only one belief in her heart: repel the enemies, protect herself and Hawk, and find the truth. With her agile skills and precise marksmanship, she kept dodging the enemies' attacks and looking for chances to fight back. Her eyes were steadfast and composed as she maneuvered through the crossfire, and each shot was fired with her anger at the enemies and her tenacity for justice.

Hawk, like a valiant cheetah, showed incredible strength and speed in the battle. He held a pistol and fired from both hands. Every time he pulled the trigger, it was accompanied by the screams of the enemies. His face was covered with dust and sweat, but his eyes revealed a fearless courage. As he was shooting, he moved closer to Irene and shouted loudly, "Irene, we can't keep being suppressed like this. We have to find a way to break through!"

Irene nodded and shouted back, "I'll draw their fire. You find a chance to get behind them!" As she said this, she suddenly stood up and fired fiercely at the enemies, attracting the attention of most of them. The enemies turned their gun muzzles towards her one after another, and bullets rained down on her. Irene nimbly evaded, using the abandoned machines and debris as cover and constantly changing her position.

Hawk took the opportunity to act. He crouched down and quickly moved through the warehouse. His figure was like a ghost in the dark, and the enemies didn't notice his movement at all. Soon, he got behind the enemies and launched a sudden attack. His appearance threw the enemies into chaos. For a moment, the screams of the enemies and the gunshots intertwined.

Seeing that Hawk had successfully gotten behind the enemies, Irene felt a surge of joy. She seized the opportunity, rushed out from behind the cover, and launched an even more intense attack on the enemies. Her marksmanship was extremely precise, and every bullet hit the enemies accurately. Under their pincer attack, the enemies' defense gradually crumbled.

However, the enemies didn't give up easily. They re - organized their defense and started to counter - attack. A tall armed man held an assault rifle and sprayed bullets frantically at Irene and Hawk. Irene and Hawk had to look for cover again to avoid the gunfire.

"This won't work. Their firepower is too strong!" Irene said anxiously.

Hawk frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "We can use these flammable materials in the warehouse to create a commotion." As he spoke, he pointed to some gasoline barrels piled up in the corner of the warehouse.

Irene immediately understood what he meant and nodded. The two began to move towards the direction of the gasoline barrels. While evading the enemies' attacks, they looked for an opportunity. Finally, they managed to get close to the gasoline barrels.

Hawk took out a lighter, lit a wooden stick, and then threw the stick towards the gasoline barrels. With a loud bang, the gasoline barrels exploded, and a huge fire spread instantly. The warehouse was immediately ablaze with fire and filled with thick smoke. The enemies were panicked by the sudden explosion and fled in all directions.

Irene and Hawk took the opportunity to rush out from behind the cover and launched a final attack on the enemies. In the chaos, they successfully repelled the enemies. The armed men fled the warehouse one after another and disappeared into the darkness.

After the battle, Irene and Hawk sat on the ground, exhausted, gasping for breath. Their bodies were covered with dust and blood, but their eyes revealed a joy of victory.

"We made it," Irene said, her voice tinged with a bit of fatigue.

Hawk nodded and said, "This is just the beginning. We still need to find more evidence to completely defeat those dark forces."

Irene stood up, looked at the ruins in front of her, and her heart was filled with unwavering faith. She knew that the road ahead was still long and full of unknowns and dangers, but she was not afraid. Together with Hawk, she walked towards the outside of the warehouse, ready to face new challen
