Chapter 30: The Traitor's Conspiracy

Just as Irene and Hawk were about to leave the site of the steel factory with the evidence, they suddenly heard the sound of police sirens. Their hearts skipped a beat, knowing that it must be the police from the station.

Soon, a group of police officers rushed into the basement and surrounded them. The leader was actually Carl, with a smug smile on his face.

"Do you think you can escape?" Carl said. "Hand over the evidence, or none of you will leave here today!"

Irene and Hawk exchanged a glance, filled with anger and helplessness. They didn't expect Carl to find them so quickly.

"You corrupt police officers," Hawk said angrily. "Do you think you can cover up your crimes like this? The truth will come to light sooner or later!"

Carl sneered. "The truth? In this town, what I say is the truth!"

Just as the two sides were at a stalemate, Jack suddenly stepped forward. He walked up to Carl and said, "Carl, stop being obsessed. Your crimes have been exposed. You can't escape."

Carl looked at Jack, his eyes filled with surprise and anger. "You traitor! You actually betrayed me!"

Jack shook his head. "I'm not a traitor. I just don't want to see innocent people get hurt anymore."

Just then, a commotion suddenly came from outside. It turned out that when the residents of the town learned that Irene and Hawk were surrounded by the police, they came to support one after another. They broke through the police cordon and rushed into the basement.

Seeing so many residents coming, Carl's face turned very ugly. He knew that he had completely failed.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Carl and the other corrupt police officers were subdued by the residents. Irene and Hawk finally succeeded in wiping out the dark forces. They walked out of the site of the steel factory with the evidence, and what awaited them was light and justice.
