Chapter 99 - The Crowd's Fury and the Will to Kill

Enraged, Di Ping's murderous intent surged, and instantly, the temperature in the surrounding area seemed to drop, causing the onlookers to involuntarily shudder and begin retreating.

"I... I..."

The five men, clutching their broken arms, sweat pouring down their faces in pain, trembled uncontrollably as they gazed at Di Ping's eyes, filled with killing intent. They stammered but were unable to speak coherently.

"What's going on? What's happening? Move aside!"

A loud and urgent voice rang out from the outside, followed by the sound of people pushing through the crowd to enter.

Recognizing the voice of Han Zhongguo, Di Ping remained silent, his gaze still icy as he focused on the five men. He chose not to speak further, waiting for the others to enter. He felt that the situation was far from simple. These five did not have the courage or the cunning to kill him on their own. He needed to identify and eliminate the mastermind behind this, for he had no intention of living in constant fear of hidden threats. He preferred to eliminate all potential dangers before they could harm him.

Soon, several people rushed in, confirming Di Ping's suspicions: Han Zhongguo, Lu Guoliang, followed by Ge Zhongping, Lu Hai, and others. They were all sweating profusely as they pushed through the crowd to enter the room.

At this point, someone had turned on the LED lights, and the room was illuminated. As soon as they entered, the group was confronted by the scene before them, which sent a shiver down their spines.

They saw Di Ping and Gina standing near the door, with five bundles of grenades at their feet, five handguns scattered on the ground, and five men in uniforms clutching their injured arms, groaning in pain. Han Zhongguo and the others quickly understood the situation.

Upon realizing what had happened, they were struck with overwhelming fear. The horror of the situation left them paralyzed, their bodies drenched in sweat within seconds.

How could they not understand what was going on?

Someone had attempted to assassinate Di Ping using grenades.

Who would have the audacity to commit such a heinous act? They knew that if the grenades had detonated, not only would Di Ping have been killed, but they would have perished as well. The explosion would have collapsed the entire mall, leaving no survivors. Was this person intending for everyone to die?

"Di... Di Sir... this..."

Han Zhongguo, unable to even call him by his title properly, stuttered and only managed to address him as "Di Sir." He was in shock, struggling to make sense of what had just happened. The brutal intent of the assassination filled him with dread.

"Good! Now that everyone is here, explain yourselves. Why were you attempting to assassinate me? Who was the mastermind behind this?"

Di Ping ignored Han Zhongguo's concern, his cold eyes sweeping across the faces of the others. He turned back to the five men, still clutching their arms, and demanded an explanation.

"Ah! Someone wanted to assassinate Di Sir? Who is so bold?"

"Heavens! How could someone want to assassinate Di Sir? If it weren't for him, we'd all be dead by now! Whoever did this, I'll kill them myself!"

"Yes, yes! Kill them! This person is too wicked! Di Sir helped us, we just ate, and now someone wants to kill him? This person deserves to die!"

"Someone doesn't want us to live! Find them and kill them!"

"Protect Di Sir!"

The crowd, upon hearing Di Ping's words, was shocked to learn that someone had attempted to assassinate their savior. The entire base had spread the news that Di Ping had killed dozens of mutated dogs to save everyone.

Moreover, he had even provided them with food, which made them stronger and improved their health. All of them were immensely grateful to Di Ping. To think that someone would attempt to kill the one who saved them filled everyone with righteous indignation, and they cried out for the assailants to be executed.

"I... We..."

The five men, eyes wide with terror, looked at the enraged crowd around them. They could see the usual meek, ordinary people who had once been afraid of them now glaring at them, their eyes filled with anger, as though ready to tear them apart. Overcome with fear, the five men instinctively backed away, their bodies trembling in helplessness when they reached the wall and had nowhere to retreat.

"Yes! These people deserve to die! Lu Hai, take them out and shoot them! A bunch of troublemakers trying to kill Di Sir—do they have no regard for the law?"

At this moment, Ge Zhongping stepped forward, pointing at the five men and speaking with an authoritative tone, his face dripping with sweat.

"You... you... Ge Zhongping, you bastard, you are too ruthless..."

The five men raised their heads to look at Ge Zhongping, their eyes filled with disbelief. One shorter man, a middle-aged man, pointed at Ge Zhongping with hatred and cursed at him.

"Men, take them out and deal with them!"

Lu Hai suddenly stepped forward, gesturing sharply toward the five men, his voice cold and commanding.

"You... you all..."

The short man stared at Lu Hai in shock, his mouth trembling as he pointed from Lu Hai to Ge Zhongping. He could not form a complete sentence.

At that moment, five more uniformed individuals rushed out of the crowd, converging on the five men. These five were clearly well-trained; without a word, they delivered a powerful punch to the stomachs of the five assailants, causing them to double over and vomit bile, losing their ability to resist.

The attackers' arms were swiftly twisted behind their backs, and they were pushed toward the exit of the crowd.

"Did I tell you to move?"

A cold voice suddenly interrupted. The five attackers froze in place, not daring to move further. Their eyes turned toward Lu Hai, their bodies still trembling.
