"Not allowed," Aaron, we haven't even finished our wedding ceremony. How can you abandon me at a time like this?"
Siena panicked, looking at Aaron with tears in her eyes. "Have you forgotten what I told you? My mom was abandoned by my dad just like this. I'm terrified of ending up like them."
She knew how to play weak, and in the past, mentioning this would always elicit sympathy from Aaron.
But today, Aaron acted out of character, ignoring her plea and speaking in a cold tone.
"No matter what, I have to go see her. Estelle came to New York City because of me. If she really... I need to say goodbye."
"Don't worry about the wedding. It's just postponed, not canceled."
After saying this, he left with the police.
As others departed, Siena was left alone in what was once a bustling wedding venue. In her anger, she smashed everything in sight.
At the hospital, when Aaron lifted the white cloth from my face, his breathing suddenly became rapid.
One hand clutched tightly at his heart, while the other instinctively reached out to touch the scar on my face.
"It really is you... Estelle, you must have been in so much pain."My soul hovered nearby, watching his agonized expression, my own emotions a complex tangle.
I had thought that Aaron, who had tossed me aside like an old shoe, wouldn't have much of an emotional reaction even if he saw my corpse.
I never expected he would actually cry.
Aaron slowly pulled back the white sheet completely, revealing my missing legs and severed hands. At the sight, his legs gave out and he collapsed to his knees.
"Estelle... I didn't know everything you said on the phone was true."
"Please, open your eyes and look at me. I was wrong."
The police rushed forward to try and comfort him, but in the next moment, he fainted, his face etched with grief.
