Chapter 10: The Abyssal Path

Kael's fingers closed around the Abyssal Heart. The crystal pulsed against his palm, its power seeping into his very being. His status screen flared with new messages, but his mind was too clouded by exhaustion to process them all.

The chamber trembled as the black monolith, now hollow, began to disintegrate into fine, violet-tinged dust. Whatever purpose it once served was now fulfilled, leaving only the Abyssal Heart behind.

[Abyssal Heart Acquired.]

[Abyssal Dominion Ability Unlocked.]

[New Pathway Detected: The Abyssal Depths.]

Kael took a shuddering breath. His wounds throbbed, but the Abyssal Heart's energy surged through his veins, knitting torn muscles and soothing the searing pain in his chest.

His vision cleared just as a section of the chamber wall began to shimmer and twist. A new doorway materialized—a jagged, arching portal pulsing with the same abyssal light as the heart in his grasp.

"No rest, huh?" Kael murmured, forcing himself to his feet.

Each step toward the portal felt heavier, the weight of the Abyssal Heart coiling within him like a living force. The further he advanced, the clearer the whispers became—faint, echoing voices carried by the abyss itself.

"Deeper… Deeper… Seek the Core."

Kael hesitated at the portal's edge. Beyond it stretched a corridor of shadow, its walls etched with swirling abyssal patterns. Whatever lay ahead was more dangerous than anything he had faced thus far.

But there was no turning back.

He stepped through.

The Abyssal Depths were unlike any part of the dungeon Kael had seen. The corridor spilled into a vast expanse, a cavern lit by the eerie glow of floating abyssal crystals. The air was dense with energy—thick, heavy, and alive with malice.

The moment Kael's boots touched the black stone floor, a chill swept through him. His status screen flickered once more.

[Warning: Abyssal Pressure Intensifying.]

[Abyssal Adaptation Required.]

Kael exhaled slowly, focusing on the new power coursing through him. Abyssal Dominion. If he was to survive in these depths, he would need to master it.

He closed his eyes and let the abyssal energy flow, feeling its dark currents wrap around his senses. Information poured into his mind—how to bend the abyss to his will, how to suppress its consuming hunger, and how to harness its power without losing himself.

When he opened his eyes, the world seemed sharper, clearer. The pressure no longer felt overwhelming—it felt like something he could shape.

[Abyssal Adaptation Complete.]

Kael pressed forward, senses heightened. The ground beneath his feet trembled slightly, as if the dungeon itself stirred in response to his presence.

Ahead, the path split into three shadowed tunnels.

The left tunnel pulsed with faint, rhythmic energy—almost like a heartbeat.

The center tunnel exuded a dense, crushing aura, its darkness seeming impenetrable.

The right tunnel shimmered with faint, flickering lights, an illusionary quality distorting the air around it.

Kael frowned. Each path radiated danger, but the center path felt the most hostile. His instincts urged caution—but something deeper, a tug from the Abyssal Heart, pulled him toward the center.

He chose the middle tunnel.

The air grew heavier with every step. The walls seemed to close in, abyssal runes glowing faintly as he passed. Kael remained alert, his sword drawn, every nerve on edge.

The ground shifted beneath him.

Without warning, a massive blade of blackened bone erupted from the floor. Kael twisted aside, narrowly avoiding the strike as the dungeon itself came alive.

A new foe emerged from the shadows—a towering figure wrapped in abyssal chains. Its eyes burned with violet fire, and its jagged claws gleamed with raw power.

[Abyssal Warden – Keeper of the Path.]

[Threat Level: Severe.]

Kael braced himself as the Warden lunged. Its chains lashed out, whistling through the air. He activated Shadow Step, flickering out of reach and appearing behind it.

His blade flashed, slicing through one of the Warden's chains. The creature let out a guttural roar, twisting with unnatural speed to counter his strike.

Kael gritted his teeth. This enemy was faster—stronger. But he had the Abyssal Heart.

Summoning Abyssal Dominion, he extended his will outward. The shadows thickened around him, bending to his command. He lashed out with a tendril of abyssal energy, striking the Warden square in the chest.

The impact staggered it, and Kael seized the opening. His sword pierced the Warden's core, abyssal energy flaring as he drove the blade deep.

The Warden convulsed once before crumbling into black ash.

[Abyssal Warden Defeated.]

Kael exhaled, feeling the pulse of the Abyssal Heart grow stronger. Whatever lay at the end of this path—he was drawing closer.

The corridor eventually opened into a grand chamber. At its center hovered a massive black crystal, similar to the Abyssal Heart but far more potent. Pulsing lines of energy stretched from it into the walls, feeding the dungeon's core.

[Abyssal Nexus Detected.]

[Objective: Synchronize with the Nexus.]

Kael stepped closer, his heart pounding. The energy here was immense—far beyond anything he had encountered. As he reached out, the Abyssal Heart within him resonated with the Nexus.

A surge of power flowed through him, his vision filled with blinding light as the abyss itself seemed to acknowledge his presence.

[Abyssal Synchronization: 120% Achieved.]

[New Ability Unlocked: Abyssal Ascendance.]

When the light faded, Kael stood before the fully awakened Nexus. His body thrummed with new power, the limits he had once known shattered.

But the whispers persisted.

"Deeper… Deeper… The true Abyss awaits."

Kael tightened his grip on his sword, the path before him clearer than ever.

The dungeon's secrets were far from fully revealed.

And he would uncover them all.
