A Pirate

195... 196... 197... 198... 199... 200...

Huff... huff... huff...

Finally, it's done.

After two hundred push-ups, I continued training to control my Devil Fruit power. Now, I can manipulate and condense the mist much more easily. Why? Because I'm great.

It has been two weeks since that incident. The first thing I did was find a beach and build a simple hut using branches and leaves. After that, I learned how to make fire and crafted makeshift tools from wood. When I got hungry, I ate wild fruits I found. And what about drinking? I drank seawater. Even though it was salty, I didn't mind. After all, I wanted to survive.

Over these two weeks, I have trained my body, honed my combat skills, and refined my Devil Fruit abilities. The person I am now is not the same as before. Now, I can even kill a tiger without using my powers.

After finishing my morning training, I grabbed my wooden spear and ventured into the forest to hunt. Before long, my eyes locked onto a large wild boar foraging among the bushes. Slowly, I approached, ensuring that my steps made no sound.

Once I was close enough, I raised my spear and hurled it with all my strength.

Swiish!

The spear struck the boar's hindquarters but didn't go deep enough. The beast let out an enraged squeal before turning to charge at me with its tusks.

GRAKH!!

I swiftly leaped to the side, easily dodging its attack. I knew their weakness—once a wild boar starts charging, it's hard for them to change direction. As soon as its attack missed, I yanked my spear out of its flesh and stabbed it again.

THUK!

However, the wound wasn't fatal.

The boar charged once more, wildly swinging its tusks. But because my Devil Fruit is a Logia type, its attacks simply passed through my body without harming me. With that advantage, I continued my assault—strike after strike, stab after stab—until the beast finally collapsed, lifeless.

Dragging its body back to my shelter took some effort. Skinning and gutting it took hours, especially since I only had a crude knife made from a tiger's fang. By the time I finished, the sky had already darkened. I quickly lit a campfire, cut the meat into small pieces, skewered them on sharp sticks, and roasted them over the flames.

Praaak... The fire crackled, sizzling the meat as it cooked.

After eating, I lay down inside my small hut, allowing exhaustion to pull me into a deep sleep.

The Next Day

I woke up as sunlight streamed through the gaps in my hut. Stepping outside, I spotted something that immediately put me on high alert—a massive ship approaching the island. A black flag with a skull emblem fluttered above it.

Pirates.

Without hesitation, I grabbed my weapon and slipped into the forest, hiding among the trees.

Pirate Captain's Perspective

"Captain, there's an island ahead!" one of my crewmen shouted.

I narrowed my eyes, scanning the seemingly uninhabited land. "We'll dock there and check for inhabitants. If it's empty, we can use it as a temporary base."

"Aye, Captain!" my crew responded in unison.

After a short while, our ship reached the shore. I jumped down first, surveying the area. Soon, I found something intriguing—remnants of a campfire, still smoldering, and a small, makeshift hut.

"Captain, is someone living here?" one of my men asked.

I nodded slightly. "Maybe. But it looks like just one person. Nothing to worry about."

Ignoring the potential threat, my crew and I set up camp and began celebrating. We had just raided a village before coming here, bringing back treasure, food, and... women.

That night, the revelry erupted into laughter and madness.

"Hahaha! Did you hear that woman scream when I took her?" one of my men guffawed.

"Hahaha! She was so loud!" another chimed in.

They laughed, drunk on alcohol and brutality. But they had no idea of the danger lurking in the shadows.

A thick mist suddenly enveloped the entire camp. At first, we ignored it. But then...

"Aaaahh!"

A scream rang out, followed by the dull thud of a body hitting the ground.

Silence.

I gripped my sword, feeling the air grow heavier. My chest tightened. My breath hitched. Clutching my throat, I struggled to breathe—but it was useless.

One by one, my crew began collapsing.

Thump... Thump... Thump...

Then, everything went black.

MC's Perspective

I let out a slow breath, surveying the dozens of corpses sprawled across the ground, their bodies still shrouded in mist that gradually dissipated.

"Even though this is the first time I've killed people... I feel nothing."

I chuckled softly. Why don't I feel guilty? Maybe I never cared about others to begin with. I hadn't planned on killing, but if they were evil, I had no reason to hesitate.

Looting their weapons, clothes, and valuables, I boarded the ship. In the captain's quarters, I discovered a map indicating that I was on an uninhabited island in East Blue.

Then, I entered the crew's quarters—and found several women in a horrifying state. Their bodies were naked, filthy, their eyes empty.

I stepped closer to one of them. Without hesitation, I drew the sword I had just acquired.

Slash!

With a single stroke, her head separated from her body.

"At the very least... this is the only mercy I can offer you."

One by one, I ended their suffering. When it was over, I dropped my bloodstained sword. My hands trembled slightly.

"I'm sorry... This is all I could do."
