*Stella's pov:*
As soon as he asked the question, I quickly hopped off the bike, my legs wobbly from the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. I had no intention of subjecting myself to another heart-stopping ride, no matter how short the distance. "My house is just two steps away from here," I said with a dramatic bow, my tone dripping with sarcasm. "No thank you, Mr. Gangster, for your almighty jet-like ride."
He chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Nice sarcasm," he said, before turning the bike around and speeding off into the distance.
I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the tension melt away from my body. Today had been a long, exhausting day, and I didn't even bother going to work. All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and forget the entire ordeal.
*Adrian pov:*
As I rode back home, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. I hadn't even driven at extreme speeds, yet Stella had reacted like she was on a wild rollercoaster ride. Her dramatic bow and sarcastic comment had amused me, and I found myself grinning from ear to ear.
"Mr. Gangster," I thought to myself, shaking my head in amusement. I kind of liked the nickname.
After arriving home, I headed upstairs to take a refreshing shower. As the water cascaded down my body, my mind began to wander back to the events of the day. Stella's innocent face and fiery spirit kept popping into my thoughts. I had to admit, she was something special.
But what really got my attention was that the boss of the thugs had a thing for her. That pissed me off. Someone had the audacity to like my Mrs. Confidence? That was unacceptable.
I changed into comfortable house wear and settled in front of my laptop to get some work done. Just as I was getting into the zone, I heard a knock on the door. I assumed it was Federick, my trusted ally and friend, returning from his errands.
I opened the door to find Federick still clad in his outfit, his expression stern and serious. "How was the outcome of the investigation?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.
Federick's face broke into a smug smile. "They're just some area thugs, but there's something interesting about them." He paused for dramatic effect.
"The Snake Gang?" I asked, my eyebrows shooting up in surprise.
Federick beamed with pride. "I thought, truly, truly, you are Adrian Huston." He nodded in approval.
I raised an eyebrow, amused by his antics. "So, what were you able to get out of him?" I asked, getting back to the matter at hand.
Federick's expression turned serious once more. "He only knows that his boss is being backed by someone powerful. He chased after the girls because the boss has a thing for Stella and Fiona. The one fighting alongside us threatened to deal with him if he touched her."
I noticed a flicker of admiration in Federick's eyes when he mentioned Fiona. It seemed my friend had a soft spot for the feisty Fiona.
I also noticed a proud look on his face when speaking about Fiona. I guess he's not a stud after all...
"Do your findings about the leader, he might be a good muse for the Snake Gang!!"...
