As Emily and Rachel walked into the conference room, they were greeted by an eerie silence. The room was dimly lit, with only a few flickering fluorescent lights illuminating the space.
Julian was already seated at the head of the table, his eyes fixed intently on Emily. Marcus and Harrison were seated to his right, their expressions grim.
"Ah, Emily, Rachel, thank you for coming," Julian said, his voice low and smooth. "I'm afraid we have a bit of a situation on our hands."
Emily's heart skipped a beat as she took a seat next to Rachel. "What is it, Julian?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
Julian leaned forward, his eyes glinting with intensity. "It appears that our new client, Victor LaGrange, has made some... demands," he said. "Demands that I'm afraid we cannot ignore."
Rachel's eyes widened in alarm. "What kind of demands?" she asked.
Julian's expression turned grim. "It seems that Victor is willing to do whatever it takes to win his case," he said. "And he's made it clear that he expects us to do the same."
Emily felt a chill run down her spine. What did Julian mean? And what exactly was Victor willing to do to win his case?
As she looked around the table, Emily saw that everyone was watching her, their eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.
"Emily, I think it's time we had a little chat," Julian said, his voice dripping with menace. "A chat about your... involvement in this case."
Emily's heart sank. What did Julian know? And what was he going to do with that knowledge?
As she sat there, frozen in fear, Emily realized that she was trapped in a web of deceit and corruption. And she wasn't sure if she was going to make it out alive.
Suddenly, the conference room door burst open, and a figure strode in. It was Lucas, his eyes blazing with anger.
"What's going on here?" he demanded, his voice echoing off the walls.
Julian's expression turned cold. "Ah, Lucas, perfect timing," he said. "We were just about to have a little discussion about Emily's... loyalty."
Lucas's eyes locked onto Emily's, and she saw a flash of understanding there. He knew something, and he was determined to protect her.
But as Emily looked around the table, she realized that she was surrounded by enemies. And she wasn't sure if Lucas was going to be enough to save her.
