Chapter 10: The Revelation

Emily followed Alex out of the conference room, her mind racing with questions. What did he want to talk to her about? And why did he look so frantic?

As they walked down the hallway, Alex glanced around nervously, as if he was worried about being overheard.

"Emily, I've been investigating some strange occurrences at your law firm," he said, his voice low and serious. "And I think I've uncovered something big."

Emily's heart skipped a beat. What had Alex found out?

"What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alex hesitated, glancing around nervously again. "I think your law firm is involved in some shady dealings," he said. "I've found evidence of bribery, corruption... and even murder."

Emily felt like she had been punched in the gut. Murder? What was Alex talking about?

"That's not possible," she said, her voice shaking. "My law firm would never be involved in something like that."

Alex's expression was grim. "I'm afraid it's true, Emily," he said. "And I think you're in danger. You need to be careful."

As Emily stood there, trying to process what Alex had just told her, she felt a hand on her shoulder.

It was Lucas, his eyes locked on hers with a serious expression.

"What's going on?" he asked, his voice low.

Emily hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Lucas's expression made her trust him.

"Alex has been investigating some strange occurrences at the law firm," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "And he thinks he's uncovered something big."

Lucas's expression turned grim. "What is it?" he asked, his voice low.

Emily took a deep breath before answering. "He thinks the law firm is involved in some shady dealings," she said. "Bribery, corruption... and even murder."

Lucas's eyes widened in shock, and for a moment, he just stood there, frozen in stunned silence.

Then, his expression turned dark, and he pulled Emily close.

"We need to get out of here," he whispered. "Now."
