Emily's heart was racing as she hesitated to answer the phone. Olivia noticed her concern and raised an eyebrow.
"Who is it?" Olivia asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Emily shook her head. "Unknown," she replied, her eyes fixed on the screen.
Olivia's expression turned serious. "Don't answer it," she advised.
But Emily's curiosity got the better of her. She decided to answer the call, her voice firm.
"Hello?"
There was a pause on the other end of the line, followed by a low, gravelly voice.
"Emily, I know what you're looking for," the voice said.
Emily's eyes widened. "Who is this?" she demanded.
The voice chuckled. "Someone who can help you. Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th and Main at midnight. Come alone."
The line went dead, leaving Emily staring at her phone in shock.
Olivia's eyes were wide with concern. "What did they say?" she asked.
Emily took a deep breath, trying to process the mysterious call. "They know what we're looking for," she replied. "And they want to meet at the old warehouse at midnight."
Olivia's expression turned skeptical. "Do you think it's a trap?" she asked.
Emily hesitated, unsure of what to do. But as she looked at Olivia, she knew she couldn't go alone.
"We'll go together," Emily said, determination in her voice.
Olivia nodded, a fierce glint in her eye. "We'll take Matt and Sarah too," she added.
As they made plans to meet at the warehouse, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into danger. But she was determined to uncover the truth, no matter the cost.
Meanwhile, across town, a figure watched Emily's apartment from the shadows. The figure's eyes narrowed as they saw Emily and Olivia leave, followed by Matt and Sarah.
The figure smiled to themselves, a plan forming in their mind.
As the group approached the warehouse, they noticed a figure waiting in the shadows. It was Rachel, the lawyer from the firm.
"I see you're not alone," Rachel said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Emily's eyes narrowed. "What do you want, Rachel?" she demanded.
Rachel smiled, a cold glint in her eye. "I want to show you something," she said. "Follow me."
As they followed Rachel into the warehouse, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap. But she was determined to see it through, no matter what lay ahead.
