Emily's eyes widened in shock as she stared at Jack. "Waiting for me?" she repeated. "What do you mean?"
Jack's expression was unreadable, but his eyes seemed to bore into Emily's soul. "I've been watching you, Emily," he said. "I've been watching you for a long time."
Emily felt a shiver run down her spine. "Why?" she demanded.
Jack's smile was enigmatic. "Because you're special, Emily," he said. "You have a role to play in all of this. A role that you're not even aware of yet."
Emily's mind was reeling. What was Jack talking about? What role could she possibly play in this conspiracy?
But before she could ask any more questions, Jack dropped a bombshell.
"Emily, your father is not who you think he is," Jack said, his voice low and serious.
Emily's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?" she demanded.
Jack's expression was grim. "Your father is not just a politician, Emily," he said. "He's a key player in this conspiracy. And he's been using you all along."
Emily felt like she'd been punched in the gut. Using her? What did Jack mean?
But before she could ask any more questions, Rachel spoke up.
"Enough, Jack," she said, her voice cold. "You've said enough."
Jack's eyes locked onto Rachel's, and for a moment, Emily thought she saw a flash of anger. But then, Jack's expression smoothed out, and he nodded.
"Yes, of course," he said. "I apologize for the interruption."
As Jack stepped back, Emily felt like she was reeling. What had just happened? What secrets had Jack revealed?
And what did it all mean for her, and for her father?
As she stood there, trying to process everything, Emily realized that she had to get to the bottom of this conspiracy. She had to uncover the truth, no matter what it took.
And she knew just where to start.
