The helicopter blades whirred at full speed as it hovered just above the city's skyline, the wind whipping fiercely around the craft. Viper sat with her back against the seat, her hand tightening around the controls, but her eyes, full of defiance, were on Hunterrina the woman who had just become a terrifying vision of power.
Rina took one step toward the helicopter, her armor gleaming white in the dark night, her silver sword hanging at her side, glinting in the light of the moon.
Without warning, she leaped a flash of light, faster than the eye could follow, cutting through the air like a comet. The helicopter's door barely had time to register her approach before she was through Hunterrina crashing inside with a shockwave of force.
The interior exploded with a loud boom, the metal twisted, and sparks flew as Rina's sword sliced clean through the controls and the helicopter's interior. Viper never saw it coming.
One strike. That was all it took.
Viper's body jerked violently, her chest pierced by the sharp end of Rina's sword. The light in her eyes flickered for a moment, her hand reaching out toward the window, but it was too late. The final breath escaped her lips in a weak gasp as the blade twisted and her body went still.
"No escape," Rina murmured coldly, stepping back from the wreckage.
The helicopter, now uncontrolled, plummeted, the ground rushing up to meet them. But Rina's work was done.
She stood there, her crimson eyes glowing, her heart heavy with the cost of what had just happened. Victory was bittersweet, but it was a victory nonetheless.
As the wreckage began to spiral down, Rina didn't look back. Her job had been finished, but the weight of the battle remained heavy on her shoulders.
She'd killed again, but the enemy was gone. The city was safe at least for now.
