A Forgotten Bloodline

"Well... I believe I may still have a bloodline living somewhere."

Briggs blinked. "You mean... descendants?"

She shrugged. "I've lived over 5,000 years, Briggs. My son had children. And their children had children. Somewhere out there, my blood still runs through someone's veins."

Briggs let that sink in. "Have you ever tried looking for them?"

Rina scoffed. "And do what? Show up and say, 'Hey, surprise, I'm your ancient immortal grandmother'?"

Briggs smirked. "That'd be one hell of a family reunion."

She chuckled, but it faded quickly. "No. It's better this way. They don't know me. And I don't know them. That's how it should be."

Briggs studied her for a moment before sighing. "You keep carrying all this alone, Rina."

She smirked. "What else is new?"
