A Beggar’s First Bath in Who-Knows-How-Long

Sen trudged behind Lady Vivian as they arrived at her extravagant mansion. The sheer size of the place could probably fit an entire beggar colony inside. He was pretty sure just the front gate was worth more than his entire life.

As soon as they entered, the elegant marble floors and golden chandeliers nearly blinded him. Sen rubbed his eyes, half-expecting a guard to throw him out for lowering the property value just by standing there.

"Alright," Vivian said, wrinkling her nose as she glanced at him. "Before we do anything else, you need a bath."

Sen blinked. "Excuse me?"

Vivian gestured vaguely at him. "You look—no, you smell like a sewer rat that lost a fight."

"That's just my natural charm."

"Charming, indeed," she said flatly. Then she turned to one of the maids. "Take him to the bathhouse and scrub him until he looks remotely human."

The maid—a short woman with a strict expression—bowed. "As you wish, milady."

Before Sen could protest, three maids surrounded him and practically dragged him toward the bathhouse.

"Wait—hold on—this is illegal—"

SPLASH!

They dunked him straight into a massive, steaming tub.

"Scrub him properly," the strict maid instructed.

Sen barely had time to breathe before he felt ten hands attack him with soap, sponges, and who-knows-what kind of magic cleansing water.

"Ghk—help—!!"

"No complaints," the strict maid snapped. "You should be thanking us."

"I'M BEING WATERBOARD—GURGH—"

Half an hour of brutal scrubbing later, Sen finally staggered out of the bathhouse, alive but barely.

He blinked at his reflection in the polished mirror.

For the first time since he got reincarnated into this world, he actually looked… clean.

His bright red hair was now silky and untangled, no longer resembling a messy bird's nest. His sharp amber eyes stood out even more, and his fair skin—previously hidden under layers of dirt—actually glowed.

"…Holy crap," he muttered. "I look expensive."

One of the maids placed a neatly folded noble outfit in his hands.

"Wear this," she said.

Sen sighed, staring at the fancy clothes. This was getting ridiculous.

From beggar to fake noble fiancé in one day.

"…This world is insane.
