I remember that day clearly. We were still in Mexico, and Marion insisted that we take a tour of the city. I was not in the mood for sightseeing. The threats, the stress, it all weighed on me. But Marion was determined. He kept saying that the city had a charm of its own and that I needed a break from all the worries.
"Selena, you must come along with me today," Marion said one bright morning as we sat in our small hotel room. His eyes shone with excitement, and his voice was warm and persuasive. "I promise it will be worth it. You will see the true beauty of this city, and you might even enjoy yourself."
I frowned and crossed my arms. "I don't know, Marion. I feel like there is too much on my mind. I'm not sure I want to be out and about." My voice was soft, but I could feel my heart still heavy from all that had happened.
