I was driving back through the dark, quiet streets after the meeting when my phone rang. I glanced at the screen, Klaus. My heart sank a little as I answered, knowing something was wrong.
"Gonzalo," Klaus's voice came through, tense. "I've found out what went wrong with the deal."
My blood ran cold. "What do you mean, what went wrong?" I demanded.
"Someone breached our system. They canceled the deal automatically," he said, his tone clipped and serious.
I gripped the steering wheel tighter and cursed under my breath. "What? How can that be? I thought our security was ironclad. How can someone get in and cancel the deal like that?" I asked, my voice rising with anger.
"I'm still digging into the details, Gonzalo. I'm working on finding out who had the nerve to do this," Klaus replied.
I was fuming. "I want answers now, Klaus! Who had the audacity to breach our system?" I barked.
