Trouble with Adele

I leaned back in my leather chair, the soft hum of my office's air conditioner barely cutting through the noisy afternoon.

I dialed Klaus on my line, wanting to give him a briefing and discuss other things.

My mind was still buzzing from the events of the week, a week filled with both triumph and oddities that kept me up at night.

When Klaus picked up, I couldn't help but let a small, satisfied smile spread across my face.

"Gonzalo here," I said in my usual gruff tone.

"I wanted to catch up on today's events. Marcus was thrilled with the turnout, and I've got to say, I'm pretty damn proud of how things turned out. Do come to my office right now. I have other things that need to be discussed with you."

There was a brief pause on the line, then Klaus replied, "Alright sir."

I dropped the phone and wheeled around in my chair.

This had to be the most I'd smiled in days.

A knock on the door came in and I knew it was Klaus.
