Adam stared at the red crystal in his hand, frustration etched on his face. Nine minutes had passed since he began absorbing energy from the crystal, but it seemed far from finished.
"How much longer will this take?" he thought, trying to suppress his irritation. Anxiety began to creep into his mind. If the absorption took too long, he would need to find a safe place to take shelter quickly. He hadn't yet had time to gather supplies, but at least the sun was still high—there was some time before darkness fell.
As Adam contemplated his next steps, he suddenly felt the energy flow from the crystal stop. A faint cracking sound reached his ears, and the crystal shattered into tiny fragments, its red hue vanishing as though drained of all its power.
"Is it... done?" Adam muttered hesitantly.
He was about to pick up the remnants of the crystal when a transparent blue panel appeared before him, making him pause.
[STATUS PANEL]
Name: Adam
Attack: 1
Defense: 0
Speed: 0
Adam stared at the panel with a blank expression. "Is this it?" he complained. "Not even a skill? This is way too basic."
His complaint was interrupted when another panel appeared—this one black, and far more striking than the first.
[You have been selected as the Host: Job Creation System...]
[Your first factory has been acquired...]
[Main Mission triggered: Build the Factory]
Adam's eyes widened, his mouth hanging open in shock. "Job Creation System?" he murmured in disbelief. The black panel felt different—more serious, more significant. With slight hesitation, he opened the notification.
[Main Mission]
Mission Name: Build the Factory Description: Place your first factory. This factory will serve as your initial base as an entrepreneur. Choose the location carefully. Relocating the factory will be costly. Item: (Factory) Mission Rewards: (Land Chest), (Production Chest), (Evolution Chest)
Adam read the mission details carefully. An image of a small, cube-shaped building appeared on the screen. "The rewards are promising," he thought. While he didn't yet understand the functions of the Land Chest and Production Chest, he recognized the Evolution Chest. Excitement stirred within him.
"How do I place this factory?" he wondered aloud. As if responding to his query, the system immediately transitioned him into Placement Mode.
Adam's vision shifted entirely. He could now see his surroundings in a transparent overlay, including the interiors of nearby buildings and underground structures.
"Wow... this is amazing!" he exclaimed in awe. The view reminded him of building modes in online strategy games.
Adam began evaluating the best location to place the factory. He knew it needed to be hidden to avoid unwanted attention. "If it's level with other buildings, it could be a problem if someone finds it," he thought.
His eyes turned to the underground areas visible in this mode. "What if I place it underground?"
The idea seemed logical. A hidden underground factory would offer greater security. Additionally, proximity to the nearby asphalt road would be advantageous if he needed transport later.
Adam nodded, satisfied with his idea. However, there was one more thing he needed to consider. "I need to find a suitable building for my main shelter," he said, scanning the surrounding structures.
His gaze landed on a small computer store he had visited before. It looked simple yet safe.
"This computer store seems ideal," he thought. Without delay, he headed back to the store and positioned the factory directly beneath it.
"Perfect," Adam muttered, pleased after verifying the factory's placement.
[Main Mission Complete]
[Host has acquired (Land Chest), (Production Chest), (Evolution Chest)]
The system notification marked his success and the delivery of his rewards. A surge of excitement coursed through him, though a slight frown crossed his face.
"Where are my rewards?" he muttered, glancing around. There was no sign of an inventory in the status panel, nor any items nearby.
"Sistem, where are my rewards?" Adam asked, hoping for clarification.
[Host's rewards are located in the Factory Administrator Panel. Please check your factory.]
The system's response prompted Adam to enter the computer store. He began searching for access to the underground factory. A question popped into his mind.
"How do I get in? Do I need to dig?" he thought, scanning the room. At the back of the store, he noticed something unusual—a door that hadn't been there before.
"This door… when did it appear?" Adam asked curiously. Carefully, he opened it.
"A lift?" he muttered in surprise.
The door revealed an elevator. Adam stepped inside, examining the bright, polished interior. The walls were made of gleaming stainless steel, with two simple buttons—up and down. He pressed the down button and felt the elevator descend.
When the doors opened, a modest room greeted him. At its center stood a reception desk with a computer on top. An elegant office chair was placed behind it.
To the right, there was a large table surrounded by four chairs. On the left was a small glass-walled room with a table and two chairs, reminiscent of an interview room from a job application he once attended at Alfamart.
"Am I going to be HR?" Adam thought, amused. The idea fueled his excitement further. Without hesitation, he approached the reception desk.
Adam's eyes fixed on the monitor's glowing screen, which immediately caught his attention:
[Job Creation System]
Owner: Adam
Wealth: -
Jobs Created: -
Employees: -
Features: [Market], [Items]
His gaze locked onto the "Items" feature. Quickly, he moved the mouse to select it. The screen shifted, displaying boxes containing a list of items.
[Items]
(Land Chest)
(Production Chest)
(Evolution Chest)
"There it is!" he exclaimed excitedly. Without hesitation, he hovered over the Evolution Chest.
[Evolution Chest]
This chest contains Evolution Crystals ranging from Common, Rare, Epic, to Legendary.
"Legendary?" Adam's eyes lit up. Without a second thought, he opened the chest.
[Opening (Evolution Chest)], obtained evolution (Microbe King – Legendary).
Adam jumped with joy. "Yes! Legendary!" he shouted, his voice brimming with excitement.
On the monitor, a small blue pill surrounded by fine hairs appeared. Adam read the item's description carefully:
[Microbe King - Legendary]
Grants full control over all microorganisms in the universe.
"Microbes?" Adam murmured, staring at the pill. Instantly, he imagined the immense power now at his fingertips.
"I'll become the King of Microbes," he whispered, his voice filled with determination. A monumental step had just begun.
