Find a Way

Blue's phone rang.

"Hello, my love," Thorndike's warm voice filled her ears. "How are you today?"

"I'm fine," she said. "I just finished reading

an article about you."

"Oh? Now I'm curious," he chuckled. "I'd love

to see you today."

"I'd love to see you too, but I can't. I have

to help my mother," she lied.

Thorndike sighed. "It's been two days since I

saw your beautiful face. Is everything okay?"

"Yes, all is well," she assured him quickly.

"Mother was upset that I came home late the last time, so she asked me not to go out for a while."

"She can't keep you away from me forever," he murmured. "Have you told her about us yet?"

"Not yet. I need time. She's very strict, and I

know she won't take it lightly."

"Alright, love, I understand. But how long must I wait?"

"Not too long," she promised. "I'll find a way."

As she ended the call, someone cleared their

throat behind her.

Blue spun around, startled.

It was Zara—her childhood maid and only true friend.

"You scared me," Blue said, laughing nervously.

Zara smirked. "Who was that on the phone?"

"None of your business." Blue playfully threw a pillow at her.

Zara dodged it easily. "You're in love. I can

see it in your eyes. Tell me—who's the lucky man?"

"Shhh!" Blue hushed her. "The walls have ears. Don't forget, Father is back. I don't want to get into trouble."

"Ooooh, I see," Zara grinned. "But I still want

to know."

Blue sighed, then whispered, "Alright, but you

have to promise not to tell anyone."

"I swear!" Zara clutched her chest

dramatically.

Blue smiled. "I'm in love."

She told Zara everything.

Zara gasped. "You have to find a way to see

him! I know he's already missing you. We need a plan."

"That's exactly what I was thinking," Blue

admitted.

"If you truly love him, you need to show him

who you really are," Zara said. "No more hiding."

Zara suddenly had an idea. "I'm going to the

market later. Come with me! We might run into him."

Blue's eyes lit up. "That's perfect!" She

rushed to her closet. "What should I wear?"

Zara pulled out a blue floral dress. "This one.

It suits your skin. Plus, your name is Blue, so…"

They both burst into laughter.

Moments later, Blue called Thorndike.

"I'm at The Moon. Can you join me?"

"Of course! I'm on my way."

Within minutes, Thorndike arrived at the

restaurant. The moment he saw her, his heart swelled with joy.

"Thorndike, meet my nana, Zara," Blue

introduced.

"It's nice to finally meet you," Zara said,

shaking his hand. "You look so handsome!"

Thorndike laughed. "I thought I wasn't going to see you today."

"I told you I'd find a way," Blue teased. "All

thanks to Zara—she got me out of the house just for you. But our little secret

stays between us."

They all laughed, enjoying each other's company over drinks.

Before long, it was time to go.

"It was really nice meeting you," Zara said.

"Take good care of Blue."

"You have my word," Thorndike replied.

Blue and Zara left, sneaking back home before anyone noticed.

But deep inside, Blue knew—she couldn't keep lying forever.
