Chapter eighteen: Normality with hunger

The hunger was back of course it's back. Williams' life could never go back to normal despite him wanting to live a normal peaceful life. After all, an easy life wasn't for a sinner like him; he deserved all the pain in his life and he alone is to blame for everything that happened.

But now he had a problem: he needed to feast on souls! If he doesn't he may accidentally lash out at his temporary family and he couldn't let that happen. If that happened he'd never forgive himself the only option would be to die again.

And he didn't have it in him to kill a random civilian; the only option he had was to break into the jail and eat the corrupt. That way he could feast without a guilty conscience of course the lord will be displeased but surely he'd understand that he needed to live.

Those people were already going to hell, murderers, thieves and their kind always met their end in hell so it wouldn't matter if he hastens the process right? William forgot or ignored the fact that being a killer was also a sin.

Perhaps his fragile conscience couldn't handle any more stress at the moment.

It was night now he went inside the jail. All he has to do is knock out the guards so he can eat in peace. It was simple. Really simple, all he had to do was just walk up and hit them over the head.

Only one man was on duty which is really odd why would they trust one guy to be able to cover a whole jail. But William wasn't complaining; this made his life completely easier. People still haven't been able to reinvent cameras after they were transported into this hell hole.

So he didn't need to worry about him being recorded. His Brown hair was kept in a short bun. His hair growth has been unchecked since he left the safe zone. A chop to the neck and the man went down. He fell onto the cold concrete and the noise woke up an inmate next to them.

The inmate had a scraggly dirty beard with beady eyes and pale skin.

"Hey? What are you doing?" The inmate said. This was completely idiotic as why would you alert the invader that your up william most likely would have kept on going till he found someone awake now this man would be devoured.

[Deception activated]

William walked over the bar his hands shifted into the earth equivalent of a polar bear but something was wrong with the design. The claws were too long, the joints slightly warped, the fur matted in places where it shouldn't be. It was like something had tried to imitate a bear's strength but had gotten the details wrong. Too monstrous. Too inhuman.

William flexed his fingers, feeling the power thrumming beneath his skin. The inmate pressed himself against the back of the cell, his beady eyes darting to the unconscious guard.

"Wait—look, man, I don't know what you're doing, but I ain't done nothin' wrong! I was framed, I swear!" The man's voice cracked, desperation leaking into every syllable.

William stared at him, blank and unmoved.

Why would he give a damn about some dudes pleading for mercy seriously some people just didn't have common sense.

I'm going to eat. So stay still. I'll be quick…" WIlliam said this with a blank stare.

The bars bent to the point William could walk in.

His screams woke the whole jail.

[your hunger remains unsatiated]

[You have received soul essence.]

[21/1000]

He continued his feast after all he wouldn't want to get hungry again. It didn't matter they were all filthy sinners who would go to hell anyways. The hypocrisy wasn't lost on him.

Than he destroyed the clothes and washed the blood off his body then he returned to sleep on his bed with a full stomach.
