Chapter 7

The next man over had already knocked over the vinegar jar, and Elias was still going crazy.

I dodged Elias's hand reaching for me and kicked away the ring that had rolled to my feet.

The style of this ring was clearly Elias's choice. It seemed designed to upset me, identical to the ring he used to propose to me in my previous life, only this one was more precious and expensive.

But so what? I was just grateful that in this life, I finally had no connection with him whatsoever.

I reprimanded Elias, my face calm.

"Elias, that was in a past life. It's just a mess of old debts now."

"I'm not Vesper anymore. Haven't you gotten what you wanted?"

"You married the person you loved most and achieved your dreams. What more could you be unsatisfied with? Isn't that winning at life?"

Slumped on the ground, Elias covered his face, his laughing and crying simultaneously made for a ridiculous sight.

When he roared out his true feelings, his face showed a hint of relief.
