Myra's expression was filled with grief, her bloodshot eyes fixed on me.
"I never asked you to take the blame for me. It was all your own choice. You're my boyfriend, so it's only right that you should take the fall!"
I was stunned at first, then let out a derisive laugh.
She really thought it was my due. Now I'm starting to regret it. If I hadn't taken the blame for her, perhaps things wouldn't have turned out this way.
Myra's eyes were clouded with emotion. She was no longer the little girl who used to bat her big eyes at me coyly.
"Give me Celeste's ashes."
I didn't want to argue with her anymore and coldly held out my hand.
Myra visibly deflated, opening and closing her mouth, not knowing what to say.
From her reaction, I instantly knew she had been lying to me, using the ashes as an excuse to get me here.
My expression gradually darkened, my body tense as I suppressed the fire burning inside me.
