As soon as he arrived at Adam's house, the usual male servant led him to where Adam was. This time, they headed to the back of the house. Zufar was stunned by the sheer size of Adam's backyard. The landscape was elegant and luxurious, far beyond what he had imagined. His eyes widened, unable to blink as he took in the breathtaking surroundings. Adam walked up to him and patted his shoulder, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Are you okay? You look like you just saw a ghost," Adam said with a smirk.
"You never told me you had a backyard this huge!! You even have a lake!!" Zufar replied, overwhelmed with excitement.
"This is nothing special… Besides, it's just a convenient place for hosting events. No need to rent a venue," Adam replied casually.
Maybe for Adam, it was just ordinary, but for someone from a middle-class family like Zufar, it was something extraordinary.
"Alright, enough about that. Now, let me tell you the exciting part—thanks to my dad," Adam said as he handed a poster to Zufar.
Zufar examined the poster, scratching his head even though it wasn't itchy.
"What's so exciting about this?" he asked, not fully understanding what Adam was trying to say.
Adam smacked Zufar's face lightly, checking if he was still okay.
"Weyhhh!! This is a poster for new recruitments to join UTC as professional fighters!!" Adam exclaimed.
"My dad gave me this as a sign that he supports my dream of becoming a fighter. Turns out, he happens to know someone who owns a martial arts training facility nearby. And guess what? They're sending their fighters to compete in this tournament too," Adam added excitedly.
ufar was thrilled by the news. However, at the same time, he felt a bit sad, as he had always wanted to join but didn't know how. Maybe it just wasn't his time yet to be part of any club.
But his sadness quickly faded when Adam revealed that he had already registered Zufar at the training facility as well.
"I was worried that if I joined alone… there wouldn't be any real competition. So I signed you up too—at least there'll be a challenge. It'd be boring if I kept winning all the time," Adam joked.
Overcome with excitement, Zufar dropped to his knees and hugged Adam's legs, tears of happiness flowing down his face. He was deeply touched that Adam wasn't going on this journey alone.
"WOI!! What the hell are you doing?!!" Adam panicked, trying to shake him off.
The two laughed and continued chatting about yesterday's events while enjoying the food that had been prepared. After collecting the belongings Adam had kept for him, Zufar left for home. Before he left, Adam reminded him to be at the training location next week. Zufar went home feeling overjoyed and couldn't wait for the next week to arrive—even though there were still four days left.
As soon as Zufar arrived home, he saw his father and mother standing at the door, their faces filled with worry. They had gone to the hospital to visit him, only to be told that he had already been discharged. They tried calling him multiple times, but he never answered. His father had even considered filing a police report, but he was turned away since 24 hours hadn't passed yet.
A few hours later, Zufar finally contacted them, explaining that he had gone to Adam's house to retrieve his belongings, which was why he hadn't answered their calls. His father nearly fainted, thinking his son had been kidnapped by the mafia because of his involvement in fights. Ever since the robbery incident, his father had become extremely paranoid. Even losing his beloved kitten once had made him faint for three whole days.
His mother wasn't as panicked as his father. She felt relieved after receiving Zufar's call, unlike her overly anxious husband. Zufar tried to calm his father down and explained what had happened. He lied, saying that he was running around the school area and accidentally fell down the stairs. His friends were the ones who took him to the hospital. Hearing this, his father fainted again, unable to handle the thought of his son getting hurt. Zufar had no choice but to carry his unconscious father to the bedroom before finally resting in his own room.
At 9:30 PM, Zufar lay on his bed, staring at the poster Adam had given him. A wave of nervousness washed over him as he thought about joining the training at the new facility. However, after his fight with Din yesterday, his determination had only grown stronger. Zufar was now fully focused on increasing his strength—his ultimate goal was to fight Din again and prove himself.
But Zufar had no idea that he was about to face a difficult and challenging journey ahead. Many strong opponents would cross his path, and there was even a chance that he would have to face all the Street Champions of Lucid King. When that time comes, his fighting spirit will be put to the ultimate test—will he have the strength to keep going, or will he break under the pressure.
The next morning, Zufar woke up early as usual to get ready for school. He started his day with his morning workout routine, ensuring he wouldn't miss breakfast—after all, proper nutrition was essential for muscle growth and strength. At the same time, he hurried to school, hoping to meet Din at the school gate.
Zufar arrived exactly at 7:30 AM. He waited for Din beside the school gate. Many students passed by, but the person he was looking for never appeared.
Not long after, he overheard a conversation between a group of female students saying that Din was preparing for his fight at UTC tonight, which was why he wasn't attending school today.
Feeling disappointed, Zufar walked into the school with a heavy heart.
---
The sound of the bell rang, signaling the start of recess. Students hurried to the cafeteria to buy their meals, but Zufar remained in the classroom.
Today, he felt like a complete fool—he had rushed to school early just to meet Din, only for him not to show up.
To make matters worse, he forgot to bring his wallet. He sighed and smacked his forehead.
Just then, a female student approached him and stood beside his desk.
"Um… C-Can I sit here?" she asked shyly, placing a large lunchbox on the table. It was quite big for a girl to be carrying.
Zufar looked up at her face. It turned out to be Anis.
"Are you here to beat me up again? Can we do it tomorrow instead? I forgot my wallet today, and I haven't eaten yet," Zufar said, clutching his growling stomach.
Anis opened the lunchbox and handed him a spoon and fork.
"I'm not here to fight you. I came to apologize… for not asking before attacking you. And… well, I just happened to bring extra food as a way to say sorry," Anis replied, her face turning slightly red in embarrassment.
With no shame at all, Zufar happily accepted Anis's offer.
"Apology accepted!!!" he declared before immediately devouring the food she brought.
The food was so delicious that he couldn't stop himself. However, he finally paused when he almost choked on a crab ball. Anis quickly stepped in and slapped his back hard, helping him recover.
"You're such a glutton!! Eat slowly!!" Anis scolded him. Deep inside, she almost burst out laughing, watching Zufar act like a monkey fighting for food at the zoo.
Zufar lay on the floor, holding his stomach. He was completely full after eating. He thanked Anis for saving him—if he had gone another five minutes without food, he might have died of starvation.
Anis simply smiled.
They started talking about yesterday's incident, making sure to clear up any misunderstandings between them. Their conversation came to an end when the school bell rang, signaling the end of recess.
"My name is Anis Qaryisma, Class 3S," Anis said as she walked out of the classroom.
Anis was one of the top students in the school. Class 3S only had 15 students, all of whom were among the smartest.
Zufar was in Class 3C—a mid-tier class.
Class 3D was for students with slightly lower grades, while Classes 3E and 3F were known for their problematic students. The three students who brought Zufar to meet Anis were from Class 3E.
As for Class 3F, not much was known about its students. However, rumors circulated about a student from Class 3F who had refused a transfer to Class S. Instead, he preferred to stay with the students of Class 3F.
Despite being highly intelligent, he loved fighting and was often seen brawling with students from other schools, alongside his fellow Class 3F delinquents.
The last class of the day had ended. Zufar rushed home, excited for the evening. Tonight, Adam had invited him to eat at a newly opened Nasi Kandar restaurant. Coincidentally, tonight was also a UTC match, and Zufar couldn't wait to see Din in action while analyzing his weaknesses.
---
At 9:15 PM, Zufar and Adam arrived at the restaurant.
They chatted while waiting for their drinks to arrive.
"It's perfect that you invited me here. Now I can watch the UTC match tonight," Zufar said excitedly.
"Ohh… Who's fighting?" Adam asked, also eager to watch.
"I'm not sure about the other fighter, but one of them is Din," Zufar replied.
"Ooooh… No wonder you're interested. You just want to watch the guy who beat you up so badly that you ended up in the hospital," Adam teased with a grin.
Adam was also curious to see how strong Din really was, considering he had managed to defeat Zufar so easily.
"Since he's the one fighting, I'll treat you to dinner. Order whatever dishes you want," Adam added.
The two of them planned to feast while watching the match.
---
The long-awaited moment finally arrived.
A large crowd had gathered at the restaurant to watch the fight. However, since they had never watched a UTC event before, they didn't realize that there were six matches before the main event—the Championship Title Match between Din and his opponent.
As time passed, their eyelids grew heavier, struggling to stay awake while waiting.
At almost 11 PM, and with only the second match still ongoing, Adam suggested heading home and watching the replay instead.
"We still have school tomorrow, man. Let's just watch the rerun later," he said.
Zufar agreed. They both returned home, deciding to watch the match replay after school at Adam's house the next day.
