Get Away From Girlfriend!

Sigrid was stunned beyond words. The fruit she had given Rune to eat turned into motes of light and then vanished without trace. A fruit she thought would take him more than a month to eat was gone just like that.

She wanted to shake him so he could explain.

Sigrid: does he have a storage space I haven't seen yet? No. A storage device doesn't work by turning objects into motes of light first! Let me ask him.

Seeing the stupor Rune was in, she decided to wait things out. He had some explanations to do. That fruit was a treasure she had begged for from her mother. It can't just vanish like that, without any visible effects at that. Unless counting stupefaction.

...

Rune eventually opened his eyes. It felt like forever, but only a few seconds had passed. If it had not been that the system needed to restart, it would have taken less the time it took to blink.

"What did you do with the fruit? Where's it?" Asked Sigrid with some emotion.

" I'm sorry, I will repay you. I didn't mean to assimilate it" he replied trying to calm her

Sigrid: assimilate? Does he mean consumed it? In less than a minute? How is that possible!?

" Do you mean you consumed it?" She asked in bewilderment

"Yes, I ..."

"Brat!! get away from my girlfriend!" He was cut of mid sentence .

The next thing Rune knew was a fist coming squarely at his face. There was no way he was going to doge that. It was coming fast and swift.

In their distraction with what had happened with the fruit, him and Sigrid had not heard anyone approaching.

Boom!!

Rune was sent flying. He unceremoniously landed a few metres away forming a small crater in the ground. His bones were broken. Blood profusely flowed out of his nose forming rivulets down his now dusty clothes.

He could only hear a whinnying sound in his head. System notifications relentlessly popped up in his semi-concious mind.

A flood of information entered Rune's brain when the Artificing skill was upgraded to Early Cultivator stage ( Ec).

He now had a rudementary knowledge and experience of artificing, void walking, sword skill and a profound understanding of healing.

He activated the void walking attribute. Space warped around to form a bubble of void. He felt like nothing had changed and could still see everything around him like before. He got up and...

He felt lighter on his feet. His muscles were also flexible.

Rune: this is pretty good. Early Cultivator stage isn't bad at all. My muscles had somewhat developed too. But I need to grow more strong. That fist punch could have killed me if it had directly punched me in the face.

.....

Sigrid was incensed, she was beside herself with fury as she brought her lean sword to bear and ferociously swung it at Anders.

Rage and agony blinded her. She saw red. Her heart ached at what damage that punch had done to Rune. She needed to get to him fast and administrator her healing on him. But first she needed to get this blockhead in front of her from the face of this world.

They were evenly matched. Anders was strong, a veteran of sword duels, tutored from the age of seven with the best tutors money could provide.

Sigrid was agile and faster than a normal cultivator of her peerage. It was a pity she was against Sanders, the Crown Prince of Eldoria,

She attacked without finesse, heavily relying on her speed and agility against this First Prince. But she couldn't touch him. His shield was always there before her sword could deal damage.

Seeing she couldn't penetrate his defense, she gritted her teeth and backed off

" You better pray that he is fine Your Highness" they both knew that, if he wasn't dead, then the damage was beyond anyone among them could deal with.

She turned to Rune with an aching heart.

They had met just a few hours ago, but he had made her smile, made her feel free. And for that, he had found a place in her heart. She had not realized it until she saw him flying and landing with a resounding booming sound.

She was shocked, then that shock turned to a feeling of loss when she didn't see him not moving or getting up. The feeling of loss opened old wounds best left alone. Her emotions turned into rage that turned her visage into that of a ferocious beast.

Sander turned pale when he saw Sigrid, the halfblood, drawing her sword. For the duration he had been in this Valoria Kingdom, she had never used that weapon, always staying in its scabbard hanged at her waist. Her favourite was the bow. But now she was drawing it while turning to him.

The air was tangible with tense emotions. A storm was coming his way. And there was no way he was going to weather this and come out unscathed, regardless of his social status.

All he wanted was to keep that brat away from Sigrid. He had seen the tense and bewildered face of Sigrid and thought of currying favour with her. But his plan fell through. He only managed to get her angry

....

Some few minutes ago:

Anders, the First Prince of Eldoria, had come back from hunting with his peers. Before he could unsaddled his horse, one of the young men on guard duty relayed to him of what had transpired when they were out hunting: Sigrid going to the river with a bathing towel and soap in the company of a commoner, some village bumpkin.

This had nearly gotten the Eldorian First Prince to stab the young man before him. He rushed past them with urgency. He needed to see this brat who would dare speak to his girl.

His rage and righteousness was palpable. His forehead creased in anxiousness. A rollercoaster of emotions.

...

Sigrid turned and found that Rune had disappeared. She exerted her soul power but couldn't find him. She anxiously rushed to the crater where she had last seen.

There were faint, almost invisible tracks. If the elven blood did not flow in her, she wouldn't have noticed the disturbances.

Somehow, he had managed to get up and run. At least he is okay. But she needed to know where he was going. With those wounds and his fragile body, he wouldn't survive for much long. The only good things on him were his carefree demeanor around her and his handsome face. Not that beauty would do him some good.

She turned and briskly walked past Sander who warily looked at her. She went to the campsite and stored all her belongings into her storage ring. Not that she had many to start with. This was a test.

She ordered the young man she saw at the stable to saddle her horse. He obediently followed her instructions. In no time she set off into the unknown leaving a hornet's nest behind.

Don't die on me Rune Sachem. She whispered into the dusk.
