Chapter 3

The faint sound of sirens pierced the silence, growing louder with each passing second. Athasia pressed herself against the wall, her glowing green eyes narrowing. The distant echo of hurried footsteps drew closer.

Moments later, the first mercenary entered the room, his gun raised and eyes scanning the scene. Athasia moved swiftly, a shadow among the chaos. Before he could react, she gripped his wrist, twisting it with a sickening crack. His muffled scream was cut short as she struck his throat, dropping him instantly.

The others barely had time to react. "What the—" one began, but Athasia was already there. Her long platinum hair trailed behind her as she dispatched them with deadly precision. A knife-wielding man lunged at her, only to have his own blade turned against him. Another raised his weapon, but she closed the distance in a heartbeat, snapping his neck with a clean motion.

One by one, they fell. And soon enough the room was filled with even more blood, where ever she passes, blood is spilled. The last mercenary stumbled back, panic in his eyes as he fumbled with his radio. "We need backup! She's—"

His words were cut short as Athasia wrenched the gun from his grasp and slammed its butt into his skull, dropping him to the floor.

Silence fell over the room. Athasia stood amidst the carnage, her breathing steady, her expression unreadable. She glanced at herself, noting the bloodstains on her school uniform but otherwise remaining immaculate. "Still got it," she murmured, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face.

Her attention shifted to the shattered window as the sirens outside grew louder. Flashing red and blue lights illuminated the street below. Reporters and onlookers crowded near the building's entrance, cameras pointed toward the chaos.

The sound of footsteps thundered in the hallway—reinforcements. Athasia smirked, stepping toward the window. The cold wind rushed in, whipping through her hair as she climbed onto the sill.

The crowd below noticed her, their murmurs rising in volume. "She's on the fifth floor!" someone shouted.

Without hesitation, Athasia leapt. Gasps erupted as she descended, twisting her body mid-air. She landed gracefully, bending her knees slightly to absorb the impact before straightening.

The crowd stared, stunned. "Did she just… jump?" a reporter stammered.

Athasia ignored them, her glowing green eyes scanning the gathered onlookers. The crowd instinctively parted as she walked through, her calm, deliberate steps silencing any questions.
