Chapter 4: Examination and Training

The presence of the Electroshock Explosive Collar eliminated any possibility of Russell continuing to resist Hydra.

If the metal mannequin could be blown to pieces, then killing Russell, who was essentially still human, wouldn't be a problem either.

Of course, Russell could still try to resist forcefully and place his hopes on the 'Dionesium Factor' within him...

"Starting tomorrow, specialized researchers will examine your physical data. At the same time, you will undergo a series of training sessions."

"Don't do anything stupid, and don't entertain any unnecessary thoughts!"

"Obey orders, and you will survive!"

Jack's voice echoed through the loudspeaker once more.

Russell didn't respond to Jack. At the moment, he was debating whether to take a reckless risk to remove the collar around his neck.

After careful consideration, Russell ultimately decided against it.

Although the 'Dionesium Factor' had incredible regenerative abilities, no one knew if the version granted by the system was the same as the one in the comics. Moreover, Russell had no intention of risking his life to find out... Not yet at least...

While he had lost his freedom, his current situation was undoubtedly much better than the moment he had first crossed over.

He had temporarily escaped the fate of being a lab rat, and now possessed the Abomination Strength and the 'Dionesium Factor', giving him some ability to protect himself.

As the only surviving test subject of the Abomination Project, Russell was not too worried about his immediate future.

Moreover, from Jack's earlier words, he had gleaned a clear piece of information: Hydra had no immediate plans to dissect him.

"I'll take it one step at a time. As long as I'm alive, there will be opportunities eventually..."

Having come to this realization, Russell lay down on the floor, closed his eyes to rest, and began to slowly get used to his enhanced body.

After an unknown amount of time, the hidden door in the wall slowly opened, and two Hydra soldiers entered, carrying food and clothing.

The two soldiers glanced at Russell lying on the floor, silently placed the food and clothes on the ground, and then left the room.

Only after they had left did Russell get up and approach the food and clothing.

He removed the tattered surgical gown he was wearing and picked up the Hydra uniform from the floor, quickly putting it on.

Although the room had no windows and no visible surveillance equipment, Russell was certain that his every move was being closely monitored.

However, Russell wasn't in the mood to worry about that right now. His full attention was on the food in front of him.

The so-called food before him was somewhat unexpected.

It wasn't the colorful, fragrant, and flavorful Chinese cuisine he was used to, nor was it American fast food like burgers, hot dogs, or fries. Instead, it was a series of colorful nutrient pastes...

"They're really treating me like a lab rat..."

When you're under someone else's roof, you have to lower your head.

Although the nutrient pastes didn't look appetizing, their taste was somewhat acceptable, with a texture similar to ice cream.

For the rest of the day, no one disturbed Russell.

Early the next morning, the hidden door in the metal wall opened once again.

Under the escort of a fully armed Hydra squad, Russell was taken to a brand-new laboratory.

The person in charge was still the bald doctor from the previous day.

The only difference was that the bald doctor wasn't wearing a mask this time, allowing Russell to clearly see his face.

The bald doctor appeared to be in his early fifties. His lack of hair gave him an oddly youthful appearance.

The doctor introduced himself, "My name is Wilson. I'm your... attending physician."

Russell ignored Wilson and lay down on the operating table, calmly saying, "Let's begin."

Since he had no plans to resist for now, he might as well cooperate fully.

Over the next few hours, Wilson conducted a comprehensive examination of Russell, recording all of his physical data.

Although Russell cooperated fully, Wilson encountered a minor issue when attempting to draw blood for testing.

After being enhanced by the Abomination Serum, Russell's skin had become incredibly tough.

Ordinary assault rifle bullets couldn't penetrate his skin, let alone the thin needles used for blood draws.

After trying numerous methods, Wilson finally resorted to laser cutting to obtain a blood sample from Russell.

By the time Wilson completed the series of examinations, three to four hours had passed.

After leaving Wilson's laboratory and consuming a few nutrient pastes to replenish his energy, Russell was taken to a training ground the size of a football field.

The training ground was filled with various firearms and weapons.

It also included main battle tanks, Black Hawk helicopters, and other driving contraptions.

"Although you survived the experiment, you're at best a semi-finished product. What we truly want is an invincible super soldier!"

Russell was greeted by Jack, the base's security overseer.

Upon hearing the voice and confirming that the middle-aged soldier before him was indeed Jack, Russell felt the urge to punch him.

However, the collar around his neck ultimately kept him in check.

On the screen next to Jack, footage of the Abomination and Hulk's battle in New York was playing.

"If you were the real Abomination, you wouldn't need any training. Your existence alone would make you the ultimate weapon. But you're not. You're just a semi-finished product, a worthless failure!

So over the next month, I'm going to turn you, this half-baked failure, into a real soldier!"

Jack roared at Russell with an extremely hostile tone, but Russell paid it no mind.

If a dog needlessly barks at you, there's no need to bark back. You just need to kill the dog... eventually.

In Russell's mind, Jack was a mad dog, one that he would eventually kill.

Despite Jack's harsh attitude, his training program was undeniably professional.

Shooting, combat, assassination, stealth, driving, multiple languages, and even a series of hacking tutorials.

From these training subjects, Russell could roughly guess Jack's intentions and understand what Hydra wanted from him.

Hydra wanted a giant warrior like Abomination or Hulk, not a reinforced human like Russell who couldn't transform...

Therefore, in Hydra's evaluation, Russell was just a failed semi-finished product.

But to avoid wasting resources, Hydra decided to train him into a super soldier, one like the Winter Soldier...
