Chapter 7: Allen and Heather

In terms of pure strength, Russell was indeed no match for the male test subject.

However, during their confrontation, Russell noticed that the male test subject didn't seem to be using his full strength.

To be precise, it seemed like he couldn't use his full strength.

Russell was certain that the male test subject hadn't gone all out, but why he held back was something Russell couldn't figure out at the moment.

"That's true. After all, you've already completed the combat training Jack arranged...

I've also heard from Jack and the instructors that your combat training went exceptionally well, even breaking the known records."

Although Dr. Wilson only checked on Russell once a week, that didn't mean he was unaware of Russell's progress.

"It's nothing special. After the enhancements, breaking some records is pretty normal..."

Russell didn't want to delve too deeply into this topic with Dr. Wilson. After answering, he quietly returned to his room.

Every test subject who successfully underwent enhancement was assigned their own room, unlike the other Hydra soldiers who lived in communal dormitories. This was a small gesture of respect from Hydra toward the enhanced test subjects.

Not long after Russell returned to his room, a researcher in a white lab coat arrived with a tablet.

"This is from Dr. Wilson. It contains some of your personal data, as well as information about Allen and Heather."

Russell didn't recognize this researcher, but he knew they were one of Dr. Wilson's assistants.

As the lead scientist of the Abomination Project, Dr. Wilson had many assistants. Russell had already met over thirty of them.

After taking the tablet, Russell casually asked, "Did Dr. Wilson have any other instructions?"

"Dr. Wilson also hopes that during your upcoming training, you can help observe and record Allen and Heather's conditions. If there are any abnormalities, please report them promptly."

With that, the researcher quietly left the room.

After the researcher left, Russell lay on his bed with the tablet, opening the files and carefully browsing through them.

He didn't pay much attention to the data about himself. He knew his own condition better than anyone else, so he focused mainly on the information about Allen and Heather.

Allen was the male test subject, and Heather was the female test subject.

The tablet didn't contain any information about Allen and Heather's backgrounds. It only recorded their physical data before and after the enhancement, along with a few key points Dr. Wilson had highlighted.

From the data, it was clear that Allen and Heather's enhancements were more refined than Russell's.

In Dr. Wilson's classification, Russell was a first-generation Abomination soldier, his skin didn't turn green, nor did he grow larger.

Allen and Heather, whose skin could turn green and who could undergo a preliminary transformation were second-generation Abomination soldiers.

Yes... Russell, Allen and Heather were enhanced humans, but they were still far from the super soldiers Hydra truly wanted.

What Hydra wanted were soldiers over three meters tall, weighing hundreds of kilograms, capable of going toe-to-toe with the Hulk... not enhanced soldiers like Russell and the others.

Dr. Wilson had sent Allen and Heather's information to Russell for two reasons: first, he hoped Russell could help observe them, and second, he wanted to see if the second-generation Abomination soldiers who had been injected with Russell's blood, would have any reactions to Russell himself.

Only after confirming that the second-generation Abomination soldiers wouldn't be influenced by Russell would Dr. Wilson proceed with the research and development of third-generation Abomination soldiers.

However, Dr. Wilson never expected that the second-generation Abomination soldiers, injected with Russell's blood, would have an instinctive species-like antagonistic reaction to Russell.

This was the main reason why Allen, who was clearly stronger than Russell based on the data, had been sent flying with a single punch and completely suppressed.

After reading the information Dr. Wilson had sent, Russell had already guessed this outcome, but he had no intention of sharing it with Dr. Wilson.

On the surface, Dr. Wilson seemed to have an inexplicable trust in Russell, but Russell didn't reciprocate that trust.

To be precise, he couldn't trust Dr. Wilson at all.

This was a Hydra secret base, and Dr. Wilson was a Hydra biologist, the very person responsible for turning Russell into what he was now.

...

After learning that Dr. Wilson had successfully created Allen and Heather, the second-generation Abomination soldiers, Hydra, not wanting to waste resources, once again tasked Jack with training them.

For some reason, Jack added Russell to the list of instructors for Allen and Heather, turning Russell into their combat trainer.

Russell didn't refuse this arrangement, and at this point, he didn't have the power to refuse.

Another month of training began. With Russell's prior experience, Jack's training plan was executed smoothly.

During this time, Russell also began his career as an instructor.

"Your attacks are too simple. The enemy can see through them instantly!"

At this moment, Russell was conducting one-on-one combat training with Allen.

Although Allen and Heather's physical abilities were stronger than Russell's, this only applied when they were in their green, transformed state.

In their normal state, the gap between them and Russell was as vast as the gap between ordinary soldiers and Russell.

Therefore, during combat training, Allen and Heather could only spar with Russell in their transformed states.

Additionally, Russell discovered a small flaw in Allen and Heather as second-generation Abomination soldiers...

While their transformed state did significantly boost their strength, it also had a time limit.

Based on current observations, Allen could maintain his transformation for about forty minutes, while Heather could only last around thirty minutes.

Whether their transformation durations would increase in the future was something neither Russell nor Dr. Wilson could predict.

After discovering this flaw, Hydra's interest in Allen and Heather waned considerably.

The success rate of creating second-generation Abomination soldiers wasn't high. While it wasn't as low as Russell's astonishing one-in-a-thousand success rate, it wasn't much better, only one success out of several hundred attempts.

With a low success rate, a time-limited transformation, and still lacking the overwhelming power to ignore most weapons and warfare, Hydra naturally reduced their focus on second-generation Abomination soldiers and began pushing Dr. Wilson to develop third-generation soldiers...
