Chapter 12: Fury

{T/N: Some heavy cringe-inducing words were spoken in this chapter... I couldn't let anyone else experience something like that, so I changed that of course... }

...

Thanks to the Hydra soldiers ceasing their attacks, Russell finally had enough time to recover.

Although Russell couldn't see his injuries, he could clearly feel his wounds healing rapidly.

He had long known that the 'Dionesium Factor' only activated when the host was injured.

So, he wasn't surprised by this, nor did he make any unusual moves.

Once he confirmed that the injuries on his right arm and left leg had completely healed, Russell silently clenched his fists.

Then, under the watchful eyes of Jack and the others, he leaped up and charged toward Jack like a bolt of lightning.

The moment Russell jumped, Jack decisively pressed the red button on the remote control once more, and a surge of intense electricity once again enveloped Russell.

However, this time, Russell didn't collapse to the ground as he had before, "Even if I die, I'll drag you down to hell with me!"

The violent electric current slowed Russell down but did not completely stop his charge.

Seeing Russell still crackling with electricity and steadily advancing toward Jack, the soldiers, though without orders to fire, pulled the triggers of their weapons.

Jack was their superior, and protecting him was their duty.

At this moment, they didn't care whether Russell was an important Abomination soldier. Their only concern was eliminating the threat Russell posed to Jack's life.

The intense electric current from the collar came and went quickly.

After enduring the initial two or three seconds, Russell found that the shock no longer affected him.

Perhaps due to the power drain from two consecutive shocks in a short time... Russell noticed that the second shock seemed weaker than the first.

Although the collar's electric shock had ended, the soldiers' attacks continued. Armor-piercing sniper rounds and electric plasma bolts relentlessly targeted Russell.

With his heightened focus, Russell dodged every attack, though they still caused him some trouble.

As Russell continued his desperate charge toward his target, Jack's finger quietly moved to the black button on the remote.

The red button was for Electric Shock.

The black button was for Detonation.

Pressing the black button would instantly turn Russell, who was now alive and kicking on the training field, into a corpse.

But Jack hesitated to press the black button.

Without explicit orders from headquarters, Jack didn't dare to kill Russell.

In the eyes of Hydra, Russell might be a failed experiment, but he was still Hydra's property. If Jack destroyed him without authorization, the consequences would be worse than death.

After much deliberation, Jack finally moved his finger away from the black button and turned to Allen and Heather, saying, "You two, go take him down!"

If possible, Jack wouldn't have given this order.

Issuing it implied he had lost control over Russell.

The collar around Russell's neck could deliver a powerful electric shock, but due to its size, it could only be used twice in a short period. Recharging was required for further use, which was one reason such collars weren't widely adopted.

Though reluctant, Allen and Heather exchanged a glance and silently entered the training field.

Once they stepped onto the field, the soldiers received orders to cease fire.

Without the barrage of armor-piercing rounds and electric plasma bolts, Russell quickly closed the distance to Jack.

However, the appearance of Allen and Heather made it clear that there was one last barrier between him and Jack.

"I'll only say this once. If you value your lives, get out of my way!" Russell was still consumed by rage, and he feared no one standing in his path.

"We can't let you do this!"

Allen, now transformed into a green mini-Hulk, blocked Russell's path and pointed to the collar around his own neck...

Russell understood that Allen and Heather were acting under duress, but he had no intention of backing down.

While Allen and Heather blocked him, Russell noticed Jack quickly making his way toward the training field's exit.

"It seems I've been too lenient with you two, which somehow gave you the illusion that you can stand against me..."

As soon as he finished speaking, Russell vanished from Allen's sight, as if he had teleported.

While Allen frantically searched for Russell, Heather's voice rang out, "He's behind you!"

Though Heather wanted to stop Russell, the distance between her and Allen made her assistance futile.

Allen heard Heather's warning but couldn't react in time. He instinctively tensed his muscles, preparing to absorb Russell's blow.

If this were a training session, Russell might have held back.

But now, he held nothing back, unleashing his full strength.

*Boom!*

The two-meter tall green Allen was struck squarely on the back of the head by Russell's fist, sending him flying like a swatted fly before crashing heavily to the ground.

Russell hadn't held back, so Allen was not only knocked out, but green blood also streamed from his nose.

Thanks to his enhanced body, Allen wasn't killed outright, but the blow was enough to render him completely incapacitated.

After dealing with Allen, Russell turned to Heather, "You want to stop me too?"

Feeling Russell's overwhelming killing intent, Heather involuntarily took a few steps back.

Russell issued his final warning to Heather, "You're not a fighter, so if you know what's good for you, move aside!"

If she didn't step aside, he wouldn't hold back.

Jack was almost at the training field's exit. If Russell didn't stop him now, he might not get another chance.

Heather finally stepped aside, reverting to her base human form.

As Jack reached the exit, he turned and saw Heather de-transforming. Then, he saw Russell descending from above like an avenging god.

Upon reaching Jack, Russell first twisted Jack's right arm, then grabbed his neck, lifting him off the ground like a helpless chicken.

"Director Jack, where do you think you're going?"

With his right arm fractured, Jack could no longer hold the remote. The device that had once given him a sense of security now fell to the ground like a worthless piece of trash...
