Lines Blurring

Sophia walked into Kingston Enterprises the next morning with her usual confidence, but something felt… different. Maybe it was the way Alexander had looked at her last night, or the fact that he had actually given her a compliment. Whatever it was, she knew one thing for sure—she was treading dangerous waters.

As she stepped into her office, an envelope lay on her desk. She frowned, picking it up. It was sealed with the company's official stamp.

Inside was a formal invitation.

Private Executive Retreat – Kingston Enterprises

Location: Kingston Villa, Lakeview Estates

Attendance: Mandatory for Senior Executives & Personal Assistants

Sophia's heart skipped. A retreat?

Her thoughts were interrupted when her office phone rang.

"Miss Evans, Mr. Kingston would like to see you in his office," the receptionist said.

Sophia took a breath, straightened her blouse, and made her way to his office.

Alexander was at his desk, reviewing documents, when she walked in. He didn't look up immediately, but when he did, his piercing gaze locked onto her.

"Close the door."

Sophia did as he said, then crossed her arms. "You needed me?"

Alexander leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "I assume you received the invitation."

"Yes. I didn't realize personal assistants were part of executive retreats."

His lips twitched slightly. "You're not just any assistant, Miss Evans."

Sophia ignored the way her stomach flipped at his words. "And what exactly happens at these retreats?"

"Meetings, strategy planning, team-building exercises." He paused. "It's also a test."

"A test?"

His gaze sharpened. "To see who thrives under pressure—and who breaks."

Sophia swallowed. "And what's my role in all of this?"

Alexander stood, stepping around his desk until he was just inches away from her. "You'll be by my side the entire time."

Her breath hitched. The air between them was thick again—charged with something unsaid.

"Are you worried, Miss Evans?"

Sophia met his gaze head-on. "Should I be?"

A ghost of a smirk crossed his face. "We'll find out, won't we?"

As Sophia walked out of his office, she knew one thing for certain—this retreat wasn't just about work.

Lines were already beginning to blur.

And she wasn't sure if she was ready for what came next.
