"Don't mess with Wenee. And don't gross me out either. "
"After graduation, you can be your rich housewife, and I'll be my tramp. We'll leave each other alone."
Emma gritted her teeth, "Alex, you're really heartless."
Alex shook his head, "Heartless? I really don't know how you managed to dig those two words out of your shit-for-a-brain to describe me."
"If insulting me makes you happy, go ahead. You're just a pitiful dog anyway. I have nothing more to say to you. Let's go!"
"Wait."
Emma and her group were blocked by Alex at the entrance of the girls' restroom.
"Alex, what do you want now?"
Alex looked at Wenee, whose little face was swollen and red, "Did she slap you twice?"
Wenee looked at Alex without any gratitude. After all, she had beencaught up in Alex's troubles.
"Yes."
"Slap!" "Slap!"
As soon as Wenee finished speaking, Alex immediately slapped Emma twice across the face.
Everyone was stunned. Wenee looked at Alex in surprise, as if she didn't understand the actions of this strange classmate.
No one expected Alex to act so decisively. Emma had once been his beloved moonlit love!
"Alex!" Emma covered her face and stared at Alex angrily.
"Stop barking like a dog. Our affairs are settled. Your affair with Wenee is now paid off, got it?"
A fierce look flashed in Emma's eyes, "Alex, you'll regret this."
Alex pondered for a moment. He recalled that Emma's uncle was a hooligan. He wasn't afraid of thugs, but Wenee could easily get hurt.
He couldn't keep an eye on Wenee and Emma all the time, could he?
I'm a top-tier Sequence Ability Holder; I don't have time for this!
Suddenly, he thought of a brilliant way to solve the problem.
"Emma, I remember you wrote Zhou's name on the corner of your homework assignment, followed by a bunch of numbers, which should be Zhou's QQ number, right? Although you don't have a computer at home, you would chat with Zhou on QQ when you go to the internet cafe, wouldn't you?"
QQ was a software that most students from better-off families would apply for to stay in touch with their classmates.
Of course, such a luxury account was beyond Alex's reach.
Emma hesitated for a moment, "What do you want to do?"
"I'll go to the internet cafe and write everything about you and me in an email, set to send to Zhou's QQ mailbox on Monday."
"If anything happens to me or Wenee, you'll be waiting for a breakup with Zhou."
Emma had planned to have her uncle teach Alex and Wenee a lesson, or even erase them from the Safe Zone, but Alex blocked her path.
She was furious, "Alex! I've never seen anyone as vicious as you!"
"Well, now you have."
Alex snorted, grabbed Wenee's hand, and turned to leave without saying another word. He felt quite pleased inside.
He couldn't remember how many times he had thought about Barry today.
But this was the first time he felt that Barry had brought him some positive value.
Alex and Wenee left the school side by side.
At a crossroads, they had to head in different directions.
Alex kept glancing back, making sure Emma and her group weren't following them. "Don't worry, they're not following us. I'm really sorry for dragging you into this."
Wenee gave Alex a complicated look before whispering, "Thank you."
Her cheeks were still swollen and red, making it difficult for her to speak clearly, which only added to Alex's guilt.
Alex waved his hand dismissively, "Don't mention it. You got hit because of me. In a way, it's my fault. Seeing you like this makes me feel terrible."
"No, I got hit because of Emma and her group. It has nothing to do with you. You saved me and took care of the trouble she would cause later. I should be the one thanking you."
Alex looked into Wenee's eyes, which were far from submissive, and shrugged, "But your eyes tell a different story from your words. I see dislike in them."
"Your perception is correct. Rationally, I know you didn't do anything wrong. But emotionally, I can't help but feel alienated from you. I hope you can understand."
Alex pondered for a moment, "Even after I slapped Emma for you twice and took care of the future trouble she could cause?"
Wenee nodded slightly, "Even after you helped me by slapping Emma twice and took care of the future trouble she could cause."
With that, Wenee turned and left.
Alex felt a bit annoyed.
Emma's stupidity and malice surpassed his expectations.
Even in his past life when he was deceived, he only thought of her as a gold-digging bitch.
Now, he realized that there was something fundamentally wrong with Emma, beyond repair.
However, involving Wenee in this mess made Alex feel a pang of sympathy.
It was truly an unprovoked disaster. If it were him, he might have lost his temper and killed someone.
Alex sighed and carried his lunch box filled with food back home.
Today's meal was 千足蘑菇 again, one of Alex's favorite dishes from the cafeteria.
Auntie Mary, who served the food, seemed to know his preference and gave him an extra couple of scoops. He thanked her sincerely.
He moved a chair to sit by the window, enjoying his meal while admiring the various deities wandering outside.
He ate with relish, like a cat savoring its kibble while watching delicious fish in an aquarium.
After finishing his meal, he washed his lunch box and took a cold shower before going to bed.
Alex had come to terms with everything.
What was the point of staying up late at night?
Since there was nothing to do at home, he might as well go to bed early and maintain good health.
A good night's sleep cleared many of Alex's worries.
He checked the calendar before leaving the house the next day.
Blue Star Calendar, January 5, 2010
Western Calendar, Tuesday.
When Alex woke up the next day, he grabbed a bag and his lunch box as usual.
Considering he had been bothered by that nosy teacher yesterday, he packed a couple of books from last year into his bag as well.
Besides, he had already lost this semester's textbooks. It was just a formality anyway.
After leaving home, he took a detour to the internet cafe again.
This time, he noticed that the person sitting at the reception wasn't Barry but a middle-aged man with a bushy beard.
Alex smiled to himself.
Here comes the chance.
He put on his hoodie, avoiding the cameras at the entrance of the internet cafe, and waved at the middle-aged man with the bushy beard, signaling him to come out.
The man pointed at himself curiously, "Me?"
Alex nodded, "Yes."
The man felt puzzled but still came out.
After all, Alex looked young, like a student, and unlikely to cause any trouble.
Once outside, Alex led him to a narrow alley behind the internet cafe.
The garbage was still there, and the smell of swill was even stronger.
