The Rising Star of the Clan
The young man on stage was named Su Nümei. Despite his overly feminine name, his physique and appearance left no doubt—he was an undeniably handsome red fox clan warrior.
From the stands, Cloudlan City Lord gazed at the young red fox clansman with a hint of doubt in his expression.
"When did such a talented young warrior appear in our ranks?" he asked.
His attendant studied the youth for a long moment before shaking his head with a wry smile.
"He's likely not from our city. He may have come from the main sect."
By "main sect," he was, of course, referring to the Heavenly Fox Clan, a powerful Earth-ranked bloodline.
The city lord fell silent, sighing after a brief pause. "That would make sense." Then, shifting the topic, he asked, "Have you looked into Ronald's background?"
Hearing this, the attendant's expression turned serious. He leaned in close and whispered discreetly into the city lord's ear.
Moments later, the city lord's face darkened.
"So it's them…" His voice grew cold. "If that's the case, we can't just ignore this."
The Draw Begins
Back on the arena stage, the lot-drawing process had begun.
The first to draw was Niu Wuliu, a towering warrior from the Brutal Ox Clan. His massive hands reached into an exquisitely crafted wooden box, pulling out a wooden token with bold characters etched on it—Ronald.
The referee immediately called out in a booming voice, "First match: Niu Wuliu of the Brutal Ox Clan versus Ronald of the Human Clan!"
The crowd erupted in an uproar.
The Brutal Ox Clan and the Human Clan had been locked in bloody conflicts for generations. The enmity between them ran deep—if these two clashed, the consequences could be disastrous.
Nearby, Murong Ying sneered.
"Your Majesty, it seems luck is not on your side today."
Arrogant by nature, Murong Ying considered himself a genius. Backed by the Yunqin Empire, he barely acknowledged even the kingdom's ruler, let alone Ronald, whom he regarded as nothing more than a fallen monarch.
Ronald cast him an indifferent glance. This man had not directly participated in the palace coup, but he had played a role in the pursuit and slaughter that followed. Naturally, Ronald held no goodwill toward him.
With a faint smile, Ronald casually remarked, "Murong Ying, I heard you've been chasing after the imperial princess, Qin You. How's that going?"
"You—!"
Murong Ying's expression twisted in anger. He was an arrogant and proud man, but despite numerous attempts, he had never even been granted an audience with Princess Qin You. The entire empire knew of his failures—it had become a running joke. Now, Ronald had ripped open his old wound for all to see.
"Mind your own business," Murong Ying snapped. "You should worry about yourself first."
Ronald merely chuckled, saying nothing more. His gaze lingered on Murong Ying, a flicker of flames dancing in his eyes.
He would never let this traitor go.
Likewise, after witnessing Ronald's growing strength, Murong Ying would surely act to eliminate him before he became a real threat.
The two of them understood one thing perfectly—one day, they would meet again on the battlefield.
The Matchups Are Set
The matchups were soon finalized:
Match One: Ronald vs. Niu WuliuMatch Two: Hong Ba vs. Lone WolfMatch Three: Su Nümei vs. Yang TaiMatch Four: Ye Xiaochi vs. Mo YuMatch Five: Murong Ying vs. Fu Wude
The stage was set for an all-out clash of titans.
Suddenly, a loud voice called out—
"Bets are open! Bets are open! First match: Ronald vs. Niu Wuliu! The odds are 1 to 3! Place your bets now!"
The gambling houses had spoken. Clearly, the Yunlou Merchant Guild didn't believe Ronald stood a chance against the Brutal Ox Clan's prodigy.
Ronald calmly placed 100,000 gold coins on himself to win. Then, after taking a moment to rest, he slung a large sack over his shoulder—handed to him by Black Moon—and made his way to the arena.
At the same time, Niu Wuliu leaped onto the stage, a massive battle-axe slung over his back.
"Begin!"
With the referee's sharp cry, the first match officially began!
Neither warrior wasted time with words.
They clashed immediately.
Niu Wuliu, with his vast battle experience, sprang forward with a mighty leap. His battle-axe whistled through the air, a storm of raw power sweeping toward Ronald.
Boom!
A fierce gust tore through the arena. His Refining Body Realm, Fourth Stage cultivation was on full display.
Ronald knew he could no longer hold back. He met the attack head-on. His longsword slashed out in a sweeping arc.
"Clang!"
A sharp metallic clang rang out.
Niu Wuliu stumbled back three steps. Ronald… didn't move an inch.
"What?!"
The audience gasped in shock.
The Brutal Ox Clan was renowned for their immense strength, and Niu Wuliu was one of their best. Yet in a direct clash, he had been forced backward!
"Fourth Stage! The Thunder Demon has reached the Refining Body Fourth Stage!"
Someone in the crowd shouted in disbelief.
Niu Wuliu himself was stunned, but he had no time to process his shock—Ronald's onslaught had already begun.
Like a raging thunderstorm, Ronald's Purple Lightning Blade roared forward, each strike heavier and faster than the last. Niu Wuliu found himself on the defensive, unable to gain control.
He was no ordinary opponent.
He was ranked seventh among the tournament's top ten contenders.
And yet…
He was losing.
The crowd's astonishment grew to unimaginable heights.
Meanwhile, from the stands, Qin Ji observed the battle with a deep sigh.
"What a shame… what a shame. This young man… is truly a rare talent of our clan."
