Chapter 28. Could It Be..?

" Define arrogance."

"What is the better explanation you are in need of?"

" This is true arrogance!"

Athan's words could be said to be the most arrogant they ever heard.

" Who are we talking about here?"

"A Master Plane cultivator, Leo."

"And who is he fighting?"

"A Blossom Plane brat."

"Yet the same brat dares to talk about killing."

"Ha! The sun must have risen in the north if he even leaves a scratch on Leon."

"I really admire your courage. You dare say you will kill me? With such a shallow cultivation? In your dreams," Leon said pissed off. Since when were people this ignorant.

"I planned on playing around with you but I should just send you to the after life immediately," Athan said as he drew his sword. He did not even note the helpless gazes from the crowd.

"I feel like pulling my hair off!"

"I feel like my teeth with crush each other!"

"My hands are already bleeding!"

"I think my eyes are playing games on me!"

"And here I thought it is my ears!"

"He should just shut up now!"

No one could take it anymore. Since when had someone boasted this much? Each of them wanted to jump on the stage and clobber him for his overly arrogant words.

Athan and Leon charged at each other. This time, Athan did not play around. He could easily kill high orcs, what was a trivial cultivator to him? He did not hide his killing intent and he did not even perform a technique.

His speed had improved the more he kept fighting the orcs and the technique. He was sure that no one in the the same generation was his opponent. That was his confidence.

It happened instantly and they were unable to keep up with his speed. Even Leon was confused when his opponent disappeared from his eyes. Athan reached Leon instantly and walked past him.

When he slowed down and his the sheathing sound was heard, he was five meters behind Leon. Everybody was confused unsure what had happened. No one saw how he attacked and they thought that he did nothing and had just sheathed his sword.

Leon was still standing still with his sword raised halfway. His eyes bulged out. It was then Athan's cold voice came shocking everyone.

"If you want to live a second longer, do not try to turn your neck or speak," he said without turning back. Killing humans was easier than orcs. After all, they would be shaking in front of the last orc he killed.

His words were arrogant and there was silence. No one knew what he had done. Was he just speaking arrogantly again? Still, they could not help but feel that something was wrong from his tone.

Leon also had similar thoughts as he turned his head. Athan just shook his head without turning back. Blood oozed from Leon's neck as his head slid from his neck and fell down with a thud that sounded like thunder in their ears.

Then his body followed suit as it fell forward with the sword. Looking at the severed head, it had its eyes open with disbelief. The crowd was caught by surprise and all they could hear was their heartbeats in their heads.

When they registered what was happening, each of them had horror in their eyes as screams filled the area. Some vomited but screams could not calm down.

Who among them had ever seen such a death? None of them even dreamt of seeing a puddle of blood. Who was Leon? He was one of them. One they had been practicing with for long.

Just a minute ago, he was still speaking arrogantly but his headless body was laid on the ground. Even Leon himself would probably not kill Athan for he did not have the heart to do so.

Athan did not leave the arena as he stood there staring at the ground.

"Does anyone of you want to take revenge? You are free to come and get your death and accompany him to hell!" Athan said and continued. "If any of you dare to come after me after I leave this arena, don't blame me for not giving you a quick death!"

Everyone could feel the hidden threat in those words. No one even doubted. They knew that he could do it. Even if they attacked him, none was sure they would kill him.

Athan looked around at each of them but none dared to look him in the eye. He could also see the fear they had. They were looking at him like a demon who could kill fellow humans like they were nothing.

Athan started walking from the stage and jumped from it. He wanted to take a step forward but he was stopped by a voice

"Wait," came a female voice. Athan turned and looked at her and she could not help but shiver when she saw the look in his eyes which gave an impression of hell and carnage.

"What?" Athan asked calmly but she shivered. Still waters were deep after all.

"Why did you kill him? Don't you know what is right and what is wrong? Did no one teach you the difference between right and wrong? You should not just go killing people for it is not acceptable," the girl said.

Hearing her words, Athan looked at the skies and laughed.

"Someone is trying to teach me of morals. What is right for you is not right for me. Right and wrong? What makes you think that your judgement is right and mine is wrong. If you dare lecture me about morals, don't blame me if I cripple you!" Athan said as two burning flames lit up in his eyes when he glanced at the girl again which caused her to stumble backwards.

"You guys are just a bunch of frogs in the well not knowing how wide the heavens are. If I were you I would give up on cultivating. None of you will survive what is coming if you don't temper your heart and mind.

"In the coming years, only strength will speak and not morals. Just be careful not to fall at that time," Athan lectured them as he walked away leaving the shocked crowd.

All of them were older than him with more than a year yet he was stronger than them in both strength, mind and heart. But they did not understand his last words. What was coming?

When they looked for him again, he was nowhere to be seen. It was like he was a ghost.

"We must report what has happened here. We must get justice for Leon," the girl said and everyone nodded as they followed her to the main mansion and stood there waiting for someone to come and hear their plight. Her name was Juliet

It did not take long before an elder walked out from the mansion after sensing their presence. He appeared to be in in late 60s but he was probably older. He stood in front of them and he could tell something was wrong.

"What brings you all here?" He asked. It had never happened before when more than 50 people came to the main mansion.

"Elder Dan, its like this..." Juliet said and narrated everything that had happened without skipping any detail or exaggerating. After all, she believed in justice and that murder should be repaid with justice.

When elder Dan heard what had happened, he was shocked. From what he had heard, the kid was no more than 16 years old yet he had managed to accomplish such a feat. He was even shocked when he heard that the person was in the Blossom Plane.

If they could recruit such a talent into their family... But his words were interrupted by the unified voice from the teenagers.

"Perform justice for Leon Elder Dan," they all said with a bow.

He was about to speak when the doors opened and the Young Miss of the family, Calista walked out. She had changed her clothes and from her dressing, she was planning on visiting the arena.

She at first thought that the crowd was about to welcome her but looking at their gloomy faces, she could tell that something was wrong.

"Elder Dan, what happened?" She asked when she reached the elder.

"Can you believe that someone does not place our Quiren family in their eyes and dared to kill in front of all these people and walked away without even regretting his actions and even issuing a threat?" The elder asked not telling the strory directly and trying to rile up the Young Miss.

"Who dares act presumptuously in my Quiren Family? Are they tired of living?" She asked being riled up. But she was already having a bad feeling. She was not sure but she knew only only one person was a guest. It couldn't be that he was already causing trouble immediately he was free, right?

"I just heard about that guy. I wonder which family he is from. He has red eyes and red hair. Not more than 16 years old. Its impossible for a lone cultivator to be this strong. Not to mention that he is a Blossom Plane cultivator. Killing Leon like a hen," Elder Dan said with a sigh.

Calista felt her world come to a standstill. Just who had they provoked. She was unsure whether her brother could put up a fight before him. Yet these ignorant fools dared to provoke him.

"Tell me, who provoked him?" Calista asked.

"Do you know him?" The elder asked and realized that something was wrong. Could it be...
