Chapter 25: Girls time and birthday Eve.
"Sweetie, why don't you come down for breakfast" Susan knocked as she gently called but jian wasn't answering and she began panicking
"I'm fine mom" she answered when she noticed the knocking got harder with each hit
"I left you breakfast okay" Susan said, she knew something upset her daughter she just didn't know what. She was sure she'll open up when she's ready so she didn't force her, after jian gave her an acknowledgement that she heard her, she said her goodbyes before she left, leaving jian home alone. Jian finally woke up when the 10:00am ringed for the third time, she lazily dragged herself to the bathroom and took a bath which lasted almost 30 minutes because she just sat in her bath the scene from yesterday repeating in her head over and over again. What was going to happen now, was their friendship over, she screamed again as she crashed out kicking her feet in the water after a long not very relaxing bath. She went downstairs to find her mom prepared soup for her and had left her fresh breads in the oven, she most have done that because she was feeling down, she smiled. After breakfast she decided to call chloe she needed girl support
"Hey baes, was just about to call you" chloe answered enthusiastically but what answered back was jian wailing her name and she didn't have to ask twice, she immediately got dressed, packed face masks and bid her parents farewell before leaving. Today her father was going to rest so they didn't have any plans together.
"Girl" Chloe barged in the moment she reached, she saw jian spiraled on the living room coach strolling through different channels on the TV, she wasn't even watching.
"My poor baby" chloe exclaimed walking towards her, the girls ended up in Jian's room, face masks on, pop corn and Jian's favorite fruit drink ready and nail polish spread out. The failed girls night they planned, this can be the substitute.
"What happened" Chloe asked after everything got settled down
"I don't even know" jian complained as she shoved a handful of popcorn in her mouth
"But the thing is it's crazy" she continued taking a sip of her drink, chloe just watched, nodding along waiting to the epilogue to finish and the drama to start
"So Ethan is like "i love you kim jian Danoh" jian said as she threw herself on her bed, chloe almost spit out her drink, she knew it. Her love senses never failed her, she knew he did
"Oh my God, that's so sweet" chloe said but the confused stare she received from jian told her it's not simple like that
"Wait, Seth said he likes you too" chloe asked wide eyed
"Well he didn't but" Jian began and then explained everything that happened between them to chloe who kept giggling and scream or awwning at everything
"He got your name tattoed" she said as she bumped jian's shoulder again she gave her that confused stare
"I said it's for his mom" jian explained what was with her friends and selective hearing
"Who believes that" chloe rolled her eyes of course that was just his excuse
"But he didn't say he likes me or anything..maybe he doesn't and-" jian was again in her overthinking boat and chloe couldn't help smack her, her love senses never failed her and it's telling her that Seth is also indeed into her friend. The girls spend the whole morning just gossiping and paining their nails, jian felt a lot better with chloe being there but she was still glancing her at phone from time to time, she text Ethan since morning but didn't recieve any reply yet and she was beginning to worry.
"Want some early lunch" chloe asked it was already 1 in the afternoon
"Ohh, we have meat in the fridge and rice and seedweed" jian said as Chloe walked downstairs, she decided to make seeweed soup with meat and warm the rice. Jian was laying on her stomach as she checked her messages, should she message him again or let him be maybe he was thinking, when she heard someone walk in
"That was fast" she said turning around and to her utter shock it was Ethan
"Ethan" she whispered as if he'll disappear if she screamed. Her and Ethan had been friends since she was born literally, her mom used to work for Ethan' mom and helped her when she was pregnant with Ethan one year and 4 months later jian was born. They did everything together, they're literally each other's keeper. She didn't want to lose Ethan as a friend so she was scared of giving him an answer, what if they're friendship gets ruined
"Wow you look... Nice" Ethan teased
"What's with all the mask and stuff, girls night broad daylight" he added walking in, he has decided he wasn't going to pressure her, he valued his friendship too much for it to end because she didn't like him back, that was too much. So he decided to act like yesterday didn't happen and they'll go back to their old relationship. Jian seemed to notice that, she suddenly had to urge to cry so she just stood up and gave ethan a hug as she sobbed it was basically a thank you hug for understanding.
"Okay, you're like getting snort all over my shirt" he complained but he was still hugging her back
"I see you guys made up" chloe said walking in
"The trio is back" she cheered and the other two laughed, she was done with her fast lunch so they went down to eat, the whole thing became a fun thing to joke about as chloe kept poking fun at ethan for asking jian out he laughed it off but deep down he wasn't feeling so fine and jian must have noticed that because she signaled for chloe to stop but Ethan began poking fun at himself saying he has the fastest rejection in history, he was sad but time will heal it. By 5 Ann called ethan and told him they're test results were out and they needed to go collect it in person, so he had to leave
"So everything good now" Chloe asked and jian gave her a big smile, everything will be alright. As they chatted Chloe received a notification alert she said it was from her mom and she needed to go, she apologized but jian insisted it was fine, she wanted them to spend more time together but she didn't mind if she left Early too, she was fine now. Chloe actually lied the message she received was from Ethan and the two were actually going to pass by and shop for the surprise birthday they were going to do for jian, Ethan was actually thinking about asking her out on that day but now looks like that plan failed before it was even put into motion
"I'll pick up Ann collect my results then we move" Ethan informed when chole meet up with him
"Sound like a plan" she agreed and the two drove off.
Jian decided to do some cleaning and free off her mind, thank God everything worked out fine, she couldn't imagine if things didn't. She shuddered as she was cleaning she heard her phone ring, she placed the cleaning cloth down before wiping her hands and picking up the phone
"Seth" she mumbled to herself, why was he calling. She felt her heart beating what if he was going to confess his feelings too
"Hello" she answered the phone
"Are you busy" he asked directly getting to the point, jian looked around her cleaning equipments, she was actually busy because she wasn't done cleaning. The kitchen was still left undone but instead of saying yes she said the opposite
"No, why" she asked as she sat down
"I'll come pick you up in an hour" he said
"Is that okay" he asked and jian nodded but then realized she was on a call, she cleared her throat not so sound too eager or something
"Yeah it's fine" she replied trying to sound nonchalant but Seth's chuckle replied her, did he find out she was trying to sound nonchalant when she was actually excited, she wanted to scream in her pillow that's so embarrassing
"See you then" he replied before ending the call. Jian immediately packed her cleaning materials and ran upstairs, what to wear she thought, classic yet casual she whispered rummaging through her clothes. She finally found the perfect pair of jeans. Brianna got it for her for her last birthday but she didn't get to wear it, it was perfect she paired it with a white long sleeve and did her hair in a ponytail adding a cute ribbon as bow tie, she did a simple light makeup and even did her press on nails by the time seth was honking at her door she was already done, she looked at herself in the mirror. Wasn't this a bit too much, it was like she was preparing for a date or something, she only came back to her senses when her phone rang and she saw it was Seth, she wave her hand it was too late to change anyways.
