Chapter 35: Entertaining Friendships ll

Luke just got off the phone when he heard a knock, it must be his cousin. He sighed, they're friendship if one could call it that was very interesting it was like those powerful old people that had to be polite but secretly are plotting against each other or those rich house wives that had to be all nice and compliment each other but would turn to say the nastiest things against each other behind their backs that was them but just more civilized, in this game of bloody money you'll need to hold on to the ones that would benefit you and wouldn't stab you in the back if they would do it they'll do it Infront

"Come in" he called out and just as he taught his dear cousin Brent walked in holding a few stacks of documents

"What are those" Luke asked as Brent put them Infront of him and took a seat loosening his tie

"Um lemme see" he said pretending to thing about it, obviously Luke knew what was in those papers, he asked of them in the first place. Was his brain resetting, Brent rolled his eyes when he heard luke chuckling nonetheless he still listed them for him

"Proposals, the new project files, signature documents, and record files, Beautycop has also opened bidding so those files too" he answered leaning back, luke looked over the documents nodding, one thing about Brent he was very competent and he was glad he was on his side, he hoped. Brent was like a double edged sword he didn't pick a side, that's what made a partnership with him scary but worth it aswell.

"Thought you were taking a leave" Luke asked looking up at him after signing a few documents

"Well not exactly but i won't be able to accompany you to the meeting with fairet entertainment" he explain sighing. Looked like whatever he was taking the leave for he didn't want to and is being forced to by his father or he was just really tired and would rather not go, either way Luke was amused and his curiosity peaked so he asked

"What is it" he pulled another document that needed his signature going through it, their friendship was really an entertaining one, maybe they're still close even though they're both technically vying for the same thing because they literally have the biggest dirt on each other. Luke heard brent groan again and this time he put the document aside, brent was the most composed person he knew and he knew alot of people so Brent being frustrated was new to him

"Come on spit it out" he urged and finally Brent spoke

"I have a three hours drive ahead of me as in no stops" he complained, Luke was listening his eyebrows raised, just a three hour drive brent has driven more than three hours and he never complained so what was going on he wondered, turns out it wasn't the drive but the destination.

"I have to go meet someone people, dad is all like connection building i-" before brent could complete his ranting he heard Luke laugh a full blown laugh the one that had tears coming down his face, wait Brent was completing about meeting people and building connection for his future, was this guy normal it was true that he was more of a quite guy but he never minded socializing when necessary and if anyone saw him in those gatherings they'll think he's the king of socializing so him being all frustrated about something like that was funny to Luke,

"It's not funny" Brent said frowning, was Luke laughing at his misfortune what a friend he had

"Oh it is, you're complaining about going to build connections" luke asked leaning back on his chair to take a proper look at Brent

"It's not about the drive its about meeting a girl" he groaned and Luke finally understood

"A girl" he asked leaning forward, now this was interesting. Brent was perfect in every way expect relationships. In his 24 years of being alive he has never once been in a serious relationship, he had one in the 7th grade turns out the girl was too timing him so after just 2 months he broke up with her, the next somewhat serious one was in the 10th grade and it lasted for about 5 months when the girl went abroad and just ghosted him after that since then he haven't heard from her, after that he had been single so Luke kind of understood his frustration, the poor guy haven't even got his first kiss and was literally woman allergic now

"Poor you" Luke teased clicking his tongue which annoyed brent but Luke was having too much fun to even care

"Don't forget to make a good impression on the daughter" luke teased again wiggling his eyebrows in a suggestive manner which earned him a file straight to his face he wasn't offended that just prompted him to tease him even more

"Look brent, take it from me, those connections are everything" he said his tone getting a little bit too serious

"You'll need them in the future" he added going back to his goofy self

"Right" brent muttered to himself.

Luke's father Thomas Everdeen was one hell of a man, even at such a young age of elven he was doing calculations that even high schooler would have to double check before even attempting, he was smart and thanks to his father Justin he already had his eyes set on the goal, Justin molded Thomas to be what he wasn't, to be who he always wanted to be and to achieve what he couldn't and one of those things was the Everdeen fortune. Justine had to seat and watch his younger bastard brother take what was rightfully his, he had to seat there smiling and clapping as he watched Harry mayard everdeen take the title as acting president from him because he just happen to be in a few scandals that was bringing the company image down, he was an Everdeen he should be able to get away with anything right, so when harry took the title as chairman from him, he had enough with the help of his mother, he finished him off. The incident was ruled as an accident of an unfortunate event of a hit and run and the case grew cold indeed he was an everdeen and he could get away with anything. He was the only next legitimate heir and without a will from harry everything fell into his hands everything was going well until his nephew had to stir the pot and the cat was let out of the bag, but thank God before he left he had left behind a formable force, that he molded just to his liking and that was Thomas and Thomas didn't disappoint with Justin taking out fredo Harry's son, no one was there to stop Thomas, so they thought until another bastard showed up, he was Harry's son from his girlfriend. Harry had everything expect a happy marriage, he was forced into an arranged marriage to strengthen his positions at that time he had a girlfriend he loved very much, his girlfriend mariam one day disappeared and he had a hunch that it was his grandfather's doing, he wanted to forget it all and just throw it away, it wasn't worth it if he couldn't have mariam by his side, she was there when things were tough he wouldn't discard her when things were finally looking up for him but his grandfather had told him, if he wanted mariam safe and sound he'll forget about her, he had tried secretly looking for her but couldn't find her, he was so scared thinking the worst like maybe his grandfather had killed her but then 13 years after he had found her with a child that looked just like him, mariam was alive and they shared a child. He knew he wasn't powerful at that time so she secretly provided for them and trying to makeup for lost times but just 6 years later he died, what no one knew was harry actually made sure his two son grew close and didn't discriminate against them, he made sure he had a true family something he always wanted to have and grow up in, the boys actually had a brotherly bond so when fredo died peter wasn't having it not only did they take his father but brother aswell, a year later his mother passed away probably due to over whelming stress and that was his last straw, peter did everything in his power to get that chairman title from Thomas, he went through six different assassination attempt one of those times leaving him with a brain trauma which took long to recover another gave him breathing issues because he was shot and the gun shot wound compilaticated his organs but he never gave up when he finally won he walked over to Thomas and whispered

"I didn't care to win, i just wanted you to lose" seth always taught his father did win but at what cost but he did understand the cost now and just like how Luke wouldn't give up seth wouldn't too.

"Take me as reference" luke said and Brent couldn't help but laugh. The battle between seth and Luke would be tough because Luke is made up from everything Justin which was crazy and scary plus he coupled that with Thomas's smartness times two which made him even more terrifying but Seth has the determine of Peter times two which is even more crazy because imagine fighting someone with everything in you and surviving the unthinkables because you want to see someone lose not even for you to win, he also carried himself like harry and if anything is known about that man is his king aura that can silence a whole room, he commanded compliance and respect and it was always given.

"See how I'm very good friend with mr. Fairet and got that deal without even trying" Luke boasted and Brent nodded indeed Luke built connection that would get him anything and out of everything which was very impressive

"Well you did intentionally place his cat on the road and pretended to save it" Brent said shaking his head and how crazy Luke was sometimes which is most if the times

"It's call strategy" Luke winked

"You should learn it, I'll teach you" he added and Brent laughed he didn't deny the offer so that was a yes from Luke so he began his lecture on his so called strategies

"Well I'll be leaving now" Brent said getting up after receiving a full unasked lecture from Luke he finally left to meet this so called lady his dad was dragging him to meet, he could accomplish alot in 5 hours but well meeting a girl his family wants to set him up with may be worth it, he hoped.
