As the room darkened, Maria felt a sense of unease creeping over her. She looked at John, and saw that he was feeling it too.
"What's happening?" Maria asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
John shook his head. "I don't know," he said. "But I think we should get out of here."
As John spoke, the shadows in the room seemed to grow longer and darker, as if they were alive. Maria felt a presence in the room, a presence that did not want them to leave.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a woman, tall and gaunt, with eyes that glowed like embers.
"Who are you?" Maria asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
The woman did not answer. Instead, she began to move closer, her eyes fixed on Maria and John.
As she moved, the shadows in the room seemed to grow longer and darker, as if they were being drawn into the woman's presence.
Maria felt a sense of fear creeping over her. She knew that they had to get out of there, and fast.
But as she turned to run, she found that the door was blocked. The woman had moved to stand in front of it, her eyes glinting with a malevolent light.
"You should not have come here," the woman said, her voice low and menacing. "Now, you will never leave."
As the woman spoke, the shadows in the room seemed to grow even longer and darker, as if they were closing in around Maria and John.
Maria knew that they were running out of time. They had to think fast, or they would be trapped forever in the temple.
But as she looked at John, she saw that he was frozen in fear. He was not thinking, he was just reacting.
And Maria knew that she had to take charge. She had to think of a way to get them out of there, before it was too late.
As she looked around the room, Maria saw something that gave her an idea. A small, hidden door, concealed behind a tapestry.
Without hesitation, Maria grabbed John's arm and pulled him towards the door.
"Come on," she said. "We have to get out of here."
As they reached the door, Maria pushed it open and pulled John through. They found themselves in a narrow, winding passageway, with no sign of the woman or the shadows.
But as they looked back, Maria saw something that made her blood run cold. The woman was standing in the doorway, she had a creepy smile, her eyes glowing with wickedness.
And Maria knew that they were not safe yet. They had to keep moving, or the woman would catch up with them.
As they ran through the passageway, Maria heard the sound of footsteps behind them. The woman was gaining on them, and fast.
But Maria did not look back. She kept her eyes fixed on the path ahead, and ran as fast as she could.
Finally, they saw a glimmer of light ahead. They burst through the doorway, and found themselves back in the jungle.
As they looked back at the temple, Maria saw that it was shrouded in darkness. The woman was nowhere to be seen, but Maria knew that she was still out there, waiting for them.
And Maria knew that they had to keep moving. They had to get as far away from the temple as possible, before the woman caught up with them again.
