Yami stood outside the Adventurer's Guild, gazing up at the enormous stone structure. It was even bigger than he had pictured, with massive wooden doors and a raucous atmosphere spilling out from inside.
The silver-haired adventurer from earlier smiled at him. "Well? You gonna stand there all day or come in?"
Yami grinned. "Let's see what the world has planned for us."
He pushed the doors open and stepped inside.
Inside, the room was abuzz.
Adventurers of all ranks sat around long wooden tables, drinking, laughing, and bragging about their latest hunts. A gigantic quest board on one of the walls was papered with everything from simple gathering quests to monster eradication requests.
At the back of the hall, a line of adventurers stood at the reception desk, where guild staff processed requests and rewards.
Yami whistled. "This place is packed."
The silver-haired explorer leaned against the wall. "That's how it always is. Every adventurer in town passes through here at some point." Then he smiled. "By the way, name's Rei. And this fox-eared beauty here is Lina."
The fox girl, Lina, crossed her arms. "Don't call me a beauty, idiot."
Yami laughed. "Nice to meet you. Name's Yami."
Rei eyed him. "So, Yami, what do we have here? You don't carry a guild card, so either you're new or a freak or something."
Yami grinned. "Can't I be both?"
Lina sighed. "Let's just get him registered before he gets us in trouble."
Yami, Akane, and Minatsuki strolled to the reception area, where a bespectacled young woman with a professional attitude greeted them. "Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild. Are you here for registration?"
Yami nodded. "Yup. First day of work."
The receptionist pushed her glasses further up on her nose. "Understood. Please place your hand on this crystal sphere for your registration."
Yami eyed the glinting orb on the counter. "What does this thing do?"
"It scans your class and ability, then awards you an adventurer rank."
Yami's brow rose. "Huh. I guess that's convenient."
He placed his hand on the orb—
And the moment he did—
BOOM!
A dark energy shockwave burst forth from the crystal, chilling the air. The busy guild came to a sudden hush.
Every adventurer in the room turned to stare.
The receptionist's eyes widened in shock.
The orb, usually emitting a soft blue light, had turned pitch black and churned with foreboding mist.
There was a new notification staring before Yami's eyes.
[Class: Reaper of the Forgotten]
Rarity: ??? (Hidden Class)
Abilities: Death Affinity, Soul Absorption, ???
[Rank Assessment: Error… Cannot Process]
Yami blinked. "Uh… is that bad?"
The receptionist gulped hard.
Rei, on the other hand, exploded in laughter. "Oh man, Yami! You just crashed the guild's system!"
Lina rubbed her temples. "This is going to be an issue, isn't it?"
Yami smirked. "Heh. So much for a regular registration."
