Chapter 83: Teaching Eris

Roa felt that his head-patting skills were being questioned, and he felt a bit helpless.

He bent down to look at the small Eris and reached out to poke her cheek. This time, Eris predictably dodged.

Eris, a bit angry, glared at Roa and said, "Don't take advantage of me, you jerk!"

Roa fell into thought. Hadn't he just heard that phrase recently?

It seemed he had heard it from some white-haired loli.

Putting that thought aside, Roa looked at Eris and said, "Alright, go eat first. Wait for me in the hall, and I'll come teach you magic and stuff."

Upon hearing Roa say this, Eris nodded in satisfaction, but she clearly didn't notice that Roa had added "and stuff" at the end, which naturally included arithmetic.

Of course, she probably wouldn't care about that.

Roa got up to wash up, feeling more tired than usual today. His energy seemed to have dropped significantly.

But that didn't matter. Taking a deep breath to motivate himself, Roa had breakfast and headed to the living room.

Rudy and Eris had been waiting for a while. During that time, Rudy sat upright, and Eris was no longer as rough with him. When Rudy saw Roa arrive, he smiled, but he found it strange that Roa looked so listless.

Roa yawned and said to the two, "Let's go practice outside first."

He led them to the training ground for sword practice and took out a piece of paper to start explaining the formation of magic.

However, considering Eris's intelligence, he couldn't have high expectations, so most of the explanation was directed at Rudy.

To be honest, Roa's understanding of magic might not exceed Rudy's. The reason he had achieved his current level was largely due to his magical power and talent.

The construction of spells wasn't easy, but when Roa developed spells, the failure rate was very low. He basically acted on any ideas he had, and even so, most of the magic succeeded.

"To use magic, one must have magical power. Conversely, as long as one has magical power, anyone can use magic. There are two methods to use magical power: one is to use the magical power within oneself, and the other is to extract magical power from magical substances."

"In other words, as long as you have a sufficient amount of magical power, theoretically, you can bypass the incantation to release magic. The released spells can be continuously compressed; you might be able to transform magical power into the four elements of wind, fire, water, and earth, and then compress them to form a magic sword."

The first sentence was directed at Eris, while the latter was directed at Rudy.

After finishing the explanation, Rudy fell into thought, considering the feasibility of it.

But soon, Rudy shook his head. While the magic sword formed this way would be powerful, it was too difficult to control, and the conditions were extremely harsh.

Not to mention the magical power consumed to maintain the magic sword, just controlling its form was a technical challenge. Not everyone's magical power could be as malleable as Roa's.

Roa turned his gaze to Eris and said, "Eris, you don't need to think too much about it."

The understanding of magic in this world was undoubtedly very crude.

Because everyone seemed to believe that existence is reasonable.

The so-called incantation was actually the automation of magic; there was no need to concentrate every time to imagine the feeling of blood gathering throughout the body. Just reciting the lines would help complete it automatically.

"As long as you recite the incantation, you can automatically use magic."

That was probably the rule of this world.

Whether standing in the position of a teacher or a learner, rather than explaining "the feeling of blood gathering in the body," it was clearly easier to let everyone succeed in casting magic by simply reciting the incantation.

So, Roa only needed to teach her the incantation.

But if it was just like that, then Eris's achievements in this area would only be like those in the original work.

However, for now, this method of explanation was more suitable.

"Then repeat after me: May the great blessing of fire descend upon the place you seek! Fierce and violent flames, burn away the great blessings! 'Fireball!'" Roa raised his right hand, and magical power flowed through his fingers, creating a huge fireball in an instant.

Eris followed suit, reciting along with Roa, "May the great blessing of fire descend upon the place you seek! Fierce and violent flames, burn away the great blessings! 'Fireball!'"

As Eris extended her palm, Roa saw her magical power begin to gather in her palm, and then the magical power started to transform into fire elements, creating a small fireball in Eris's hand.

Eris danced with excitement, shouting joyfully, "Did you see that? Did you see that? Magic, so this is what magic is like!"

Magic was a wonderful thing, especially for beginners. Their initial interest was undoubtedly very strong.

For beginners, igniting that strong interest was extremely important, so Roa appropriately praised her, "Eris, you did well! You succeeded on your first try."

Eris showed a proud expression, her eyebrows raised, and her ruby-red eyes sparkled. Roa noticed that as long as he praised her, she would always show a very happy expression.

She was indeed a little girl, without so many ulterior motives. Just thinking about Philip made Roa feel a bit of a headache.

That guy was no good.

Recently, he felt that Philip was intentionally trying to get close to him, giving him a sense that Philip had ulterior motives.

"Now, Eris, try to cast a water-type spell."

"Okay!" Eris nodded, and the flames in her hand began to dim.

Following the previous steps, Roa extended his hand and began to recite the incantation: "May the great blessing of water descend upon the place you seek, let the cool shallow stream appear here—Water Ball."

A fist-sized water ball quickly appeared in Roa's hand, the water swirling and gathering, and then Roa shot it far away.

The water ball spun rapidly as it flew toward a distant tree, smashing it in half.

Roa raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Did you see that?"

Rudy looked speechless, lamenting that his older brother was still as showy as ever.

Eris frowned, trying to recite, "May the great blessing of water descend upon the place you seek, let the cool shallow stream appear—"

But before she could finish, her face turned pale, and she nearly fainted. Roa quickly caught her to prevent her from falling.

Roa sensed her magical fluctuations and, after a moment of contemplation, understood what was happening.

"Eris has a high affinity for fire elements but a low affinity for water elements. The affinity for the other two elements is unknown, but I don't think they are outstanding either."

This was Roa's judgment based on Eris's performance in casting magic.
