Chapter 1

Valentine's Day, my wife gave me a custom-made Rolex and a brand new RTX 4080.

I thought she had changed, but the courier said they were delivered to the wrong person! He turned and handed me a men's apron that was snagged for a penny in a flash sale.

"You got your brother-in-law a cheap apron you scored for a penny, aren't you worried he'll be upset?"

"His job is to be a house husband, cooking and cleaning for me every day. Why should he put so much effort into it?"

"Then aren't you afraid Dashiell will be angry that you got him such an expensive gift?"

"He's so obedient, he won't get mad."

I stood there stunned, unable to believe that after I waited on wife's family hand and foot, paid for her siblings' education, and cared for her elderly mother, this is how she treated me!

Dashiell appeared before me wearing the Rolex that my wife had spent a fortune to custom order.

"Brother-in-law, isn't this Rolex nice?"

I didn't even lift my eyes, just turned and walked away.

After leaving the divorce papers, darling was completely panicked.

————————

"Sir, you have a package here. Please sign for it."

Valentine's Day was approaching, and I was at home cooking for Faye's family when I heard the doorbell ring.

I opened the door, puzzled, and there before my eyes was an unwrapped Rolex, its metallic sheen gleaming under the indoor lights.

My eyes widened with delight as I quickly accepted the watch, cradling it lovingly in my palm.

"This was custom-ordered for you by Ms. Channing. There's also a large package. Please sign for it."

With that, the courier handed me a heavy box marked with the numbers 4080.

I was suddenly at a loss. Darling had never given me such an expensive and thoughtful gift on important holidays before. It was always aprons or kitchen sets, or else household necessities like trash cans, plates, mops, brooms, laundry detergent, and the like.

"Thank you."

After signing, I took it back to the bedroom, only to be caught by Faye's mother, who curled her lip in disdain.

"How wasteful. Making Faye buy you gifts on Valentine's Day, and it looks like she spent quite a bit too."I stepped into my room without a word, just flashing a helpless smile. As I opened the box, my heart raced with anticipation and nervousness.

Inside was a brand-new, top-of-the-line RTX 4080 graphics card setup. It looked incredibly expensive at first glance.

I caressed it lovingly. Faye's family wasn't well-off; she'd always been hustling on her own entrepreneurial ventures, living frugally. How did she suddenly wise up, not only gifting something decent but also upgrading the quality?

Examining the Rolex watch closely, I suddenly noticed a familiar little design - my mentor's logo.

Before marrying Faye, I was a student at a prestigious design school abroad. My mentor was a renowned designer who'd showcased at numerous luxury fashion shows. My work inherited her gift, and I quickly made a name for myself in the industry.

Back then, just the design sketches for one of my exclusive pieces would fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars. The finished products were frantically sought after by luxury brands. Right when my career was taking off, I met Faye.

At the airport, she seemed to be there picking someone up. Due to the crowded rush, my suitcase unfortunately got knocked over, spilling its contents everywhere. She bent down to help me gather my things, her eyes gentle, her smile as warm as a spring breeze.

"Be careful, it's crowded here. Are you hurt?"I fell into her tender embrace, and after exchanging contact information, I made excuses to take her out for meals. As I learned more about her life, I discovered she was both gentle and kind, aligning even more with my criteria for a partner. We quickly fell in love, dated for two years, and have now been married for three. I've given her my all, holding nothing back. Though she can be strong-willed at work, when we're alone, she reveals a softer, more feminine side.

I fingered the Rolex on my wrist, letting out a soft sigh. Just as I was about to change clothes, I heard the voice of a delivery person at the door once again.

"I'm sorry, but I delivered the wrong package earlier. Could you return it to me?"

My heart skipped a beat. How could it possibly be the wrong delivery? This was clearly the gift Faye had prepared, even the card inside wishing me a "Happy Valentine's Day" was in her handwriting.

Confused, I opened the door and handed the items back to the delivery person.

The delivery person smiled and said to me, "It's from the same sender. I just mixed them up. This one is actually yours."
