Chapter 0.3: Arcane Awakening - Part 3

Shing!

Thud.

Etheron's bloody head fell to the filthy ground and was covered in blood and mud as it rolled over.

Plop.

Much to the Supreme Jailer's mirth, it stopped in a puddle of water as if to further the pain Etheron suffered.

His head was separated more than a meter away from his body that was not in the least bit in a better situation.

His abdomen was torn open and his internal organs spilled out.

Etheron and Azrahels blood flowed everywhere and had stained the ground into a dark red hue.

"..."

Vaelros fell to his knees. His mouth was agape. He was at a loss for words at what just happened right in front him.

'This must be a nightmare. Yes, I must still be unconscious.'

He refused to accept the reality in front him.

It was only after a few seconds of glitch and denial in his mind did Vaelros finally process everything.

It was real.

His two adorable sons were dead.

They were killed right in front of him.

"Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!! Etheron!!!...Azrahel!!!!"

Vaelros screamed and wailed in despair.

His battered body, limping from all the torture he got, became numb of all the pain as the worst heartache a parent could ever have, visited him again.

And this time, much worse than the first.

The twins are gone. So cruelly at that. And Vaelros was not able to do anything to save them.

All hope was lost.

Until suddenly…

The air trembled.

The winds became still, and the torrential rain stopped falling.

An eerie silence filled everything.

A prelude to something…

"What's going on?!!"

The Supreme Jailer and the soldiers looked around in alarm.

A terrifying aura filled the surroundings and a blinding light flashed.

Amidst all this, Azrahel's body began healing and regenerating. So quickly that his wounds were closing as they watched.

Only gasps were heard as they witnessed something so shocking and supposedly impossible.

The next instant, only a few words were heard. And it wasn't theirs.

"Soul Taker - Bloodbath!"

The body of the Supreme Jailer suddenly started to wither, holes appeared on his skin, and his blood started gushing out like little fountains.

"Arrgh!!!!" The Supreme Jailer's scream of fear and pain resounded.

The soldiers were petrified where they stood and could not move even when they wanted to.

They felt by instinct that whoever moved would be the next.

Thus, the Supreme Jailer's wail resounded in the silence.

It continued until only a pool of blood, some bones, and the Forsaken Blade were left where the jailer was last seen standing.

There was silence, fear, and grief…

Inside the mind of some of the troops of the Black Suns' Crimson Legion some thought, 'At least the other one is dead. But, how should we kill this creature? Does he even die?!'

Some of the strongest soldiers present started to move their bodies for defense formation. But…

"Lumina Nova - Regeneration."

As if time stood still, they witnessed how Etheron's body parts reassembled and healed.

In the face of the immense power they have witnessed, some soldiers sensed immediate death if they did not flee.

Thus, those who could move tried to run as far as possible even with their feet heavy with fear.

They ran as fast as they could away from the carnage they just witnessed.

As for those who remained frozen with fear, it was as if time itself was not moving, and they could only wait for their demise.

These soldiers were then the next target, until in that accursed place, nothing remained but a pool of blood.

The soldiers who captured three "sinners" and were supposed to punish them, were the ones who got punished instead when they were faced with an immense unknown power.

***

After some time, in a village in the Obsidian Cradle Kingdom…

"This event was recorded by those who survived.

Forsaken Blade was taken by the Warden Supreme of Nimraelth Kingdom and dedicated to their king, King Halrun.

No one knew where those demons now dwell.

The twin sons of Vaelros Dreadstelth, known in the legends as the Twin Sons of the Devil..."

"What a story! Let's borrow the next part of this book," a ten-year-old boy exclaimed.

"Crethon! Didn't you hear what the adults were talking about? It's not a book for us kids to hold! I will tell my father!" Fedenor, the son of a retired soldier, scolded Crethon.

Crethon was a scribe's son. His father was their neighbor who had been sick for a long-time.

Their father's were good friends, so Fedenor's father was supporting Crethon's family.

They got hold of a book Crethon's father was working on.

"Shut up, Fedenor! Let's sneak again tomorrow," Crethon was stubborn.

He wanted to know what else happened after that.

"You never learn, do you?" Fedenor sighed in exasperation.

"I'm just curious," Crethon defended himself. "Fine, let's just sleep for today."

Crethon hid the book in a worn down drawer and headed to bed.

Fedenor followed suit. It was already late into the night.

"Huh! Oh man! Are these rags all we can use?" Fedenor complained as he pulled at their blankets.

"Shut up and sleep! Geez," Crethon hushed.

Due to his family's situation, everything in their house was old.

The kids turned off the lamp and fell asleep soundly.

.

Meanwhile, in a far away place. . .

"Soul Reaper Arcana – Bloodbath!"

Several bodies of soldiers simultaneously erupted into pools of blood, while they were still preparing to charge. They could not even do anything to stop it.

"Azrahel, how many times have I told you to hold back!" Etheron scolded his twin.

"And what are those small squirming bats at your back Etheron?" Azrahel calmly replied, as if feeling nothing that many were killed by him instantly.

"Shut up! They alerted us of the attack, remember!" Etheron loved these creatures.

"Oh, those small squirming ugly bats?" Azrahel said teasingly.

"Enough you two.

Etheron, don't bully or use too much force when fighting.

Where are the trees in front of us?

And Azrahel, no need for so much blood…

Hayss…

How many times have I told you?

Life is not to be taken lightly…" Vaelros scolded.

He will never get used to the powers of these two even after witnessing it several times already.
