Receiving the Summons, members of the Silver Legion arrived one after another.
Some came from the training grounds, some from their assigned patrol areas nearby, and some from the palace.
With enough members of the Silver Legion gathered, they were ready to depart.
"As we don our armor, let us remember the sacred oath we took to protect this kingdom and uphold justice.
In honor of those who sacrificed their lives for our cause, let us raise our swords for Livingrings!"
Vaelros Dreadstelth proudly lifted his gigantic sword — shimmering with a white and bluish hue that seemed to capture the very essence of the sky.
Its blade, forged from an enchanted blue steel, was as wide and as long as his arm. The general was tall, more than seven feet and packed with muscles from rigorous training.
Intricate runes and sigils etched along the blade's surface, glowed faintly.
It hinted at the ancient magic imbued within the metal and the value it wanted to communicate to all who see the one bearing it.
The hilt was wrapped in black leather, providing a firm grip for the general's powerful hands, and was adorned with a sapphire pommel.
"To Livingrings!"
The Silver Legion shouted in unison while lifting their weapons. They prepared to take off with their Celestial Drakes.
With Vaelros' leading, they took off and headed to the west side of the city.
People from all places they passed by watched and cheered as the Silver Legion flew in the sky, their blue capes regally moving with the winds.
After all, they were their symbol of hope, strength, and divine favor.
The citizens and any young talents looked up to them and had already begun their training.
There were even people waging gold to see who could be brigadier, major, or lieutenant generals first among the promising talents.
General Vaelros' sons, Calek and Donvar, watched proudly at a distance, smiling and waving to their father.
Calek and Donvar were among the talents highly regarded by the citizens due to their father's reputation.
If Calek and Donvar ever want to follow in Vaelros' footsteps, he would be able to train them well and share what he learned while he was in the position.
Calek, 14 years old, was under body endurance training while Donvar, 9 years old was still starting to grasp magic.
Vaelros waved back at his children and continued heading for the location Lieutenant Fulbruw had informed him.
Upon approaching the west side of the city, they focused on their mission.
"How come Nymeria and Orion are there?!" Vaelros exclaimed when they arrived at the location and from above, spotted the kings' children.
'So that's why we were summoned.
These two should have been on vacation at Mistwalker Palace.
They're even younger than my kids.
Yet, they are immediately exposed to this kind of scenery,' Vaelros thought while looking at the two.
He frowned when he noticed something.
"Lieutenant, what are those moving pools of green water around them?"
General Vaelros asked while pointing at some mysterious moving green walls. It looked like living organisms with some dangerous binding abilities, wriggling all around the king's children.
"Those are like shields and prison bars at the same time general. The apprentice wizards are unable to break them," Gol Furbuw replied, his eyes darted anxiously, his lips getting tight.
Moreover, the attackers were Ravenhailers, a kind of two-headed monster that began attacking them every now and then years ago.
Vaelros and the Silver Legion needed to swoop in now.
The wizard apprentices nodded at Vaelros and activated barrier spells to protect the prince and princess from harm.
Vaelros then glanced at his comrades. Their task was to eliminate the Ravenhailers.
"Soldiers of the Silver Legion, our mission is to strike the enemy fortifications from the skies. Remember your training, trust in your mounts, and let the light of the divine guide you!" General Vaelros reassured his soldiers.
He flew ahead of them and signaled the first attack.
"Targets marked! Prepare for Radiant Slash!" Vaelros shouted and started the activation of the magical release.
"By the light of the heavens, let our power be unleashed!"
The Silver Legion responded in unison and their eyes shimmered with a similar glow of the moon's graceful light.
Dazzling display of light and magical energy was launched at the Ravenhailers.
It flashed so fast and turned the four targets into ash.
But, something did not feel right. They were defeated so easily.
Ravenhailers could let their bodies dissipate into black birds and could later reform again.
Likewise, their faces were not clearly seen due to their black robes, draped all over their bodies completely covering their forms.
Vaelros and the Divine Army had fought eight of these before. It was time consuming since raven hailers could disperse and escape in a far away place then reform again.
The Divine Army even had to send several generals to lead their divisions in different parts of the kingdoms just for the eight Ravenhailers they encountered before.
Ravenhailers could not easily be defeated by normal means since they cannot get hit immediately.
The eighth they fought in the past had managed to escape many times and randomly killed citizens as they fled from one place to another.
Thus, Vaelros was suspicious as to why the Ravenhailers they just attacked now were defeated so easily.
"We have fought far stronger members of these destruction operators every week as they've started rallies, burned farms, and stolen from resource boxes.
They shouldn't have weakened this easily, or even proceeded with this threat if they couldn't fight properly," Vaelros pointed out.
"Indeed…"
The Silver Legion soldiers were also confused at what just happened.
However, for now, what was important was that the prince and princess were safe.
Right on time, they spotted the King on his way with General Hovereth and his men who escorted him.
"Let's get the prince and princess to safety," Vaelros commanded his squadron to protect the prince and princess from further harm.
Something still felt amiss though so Vaelros was still not at ease.
There could be a threat they did not know yet.
Or perhaps, there were some information not yet given to him.
