After clearing the dining area, Cris moved on to the dormitory section of the shelter.
It was a long hallway filled with rooms, once used by the original occupants. Now, dust coated the floors, and the air smelled of stale metal and decay.
"Guess I have no choice but to clean everything again," Cris muttered, rolling up his armor sleeves.
Cris opened the first door.
The room was small—just a metal-framed bed, a desk covered in old papers, and a rusted locker. He started picking up trash, wiping the dust, and stacking the remaining useful items neatly.
Each room was the same, but the cleaning quests kept rewarding him with more food.
"At this rate, I'll have enough supplies to last weeks," he smirked.
After finishing several rooms, Cris opened another door—
And something shiny caught his eye.
Lying on the floor, partially buried under old sheets, was a small, glowing gem.
"Huh?" He bent down, picking it up.
The gem emitted a faint purple glow, its surface rough yet smooth in some areas. It was unlike anything he had seen before.
"Trixie!" he called.
Trixie's small, hovering form appeared. "How's the cleaning, Master?" she asked cheerfully.
Cris waved the gem. "Yeah, yeah, cleaning's fine. But what is this?"
Trixie scanned the object, her eyes flashing for a moment before she replied,
"This is a rare gemstone only found outside in the wasteland. It's primarily used as a core ingredient in grenade production."
Cris froze.
"Wait—you're telling me I can make grenades with this?"
Trixie nodded. "Correct! Combining it with the right materials can create explosive weapons."
Cris's mind immediately went back to the hallway full of Zeezo.
"If I can craft grenades… I can blast my way through them."
His eyes lit up with excitement.
"Alright, time to find more of these gems!"
Gem Hunt in the Dormitory
Cris went from room to room, carefully checking under beds, inside lockers, and behind furniture.
His efforts paid off.
By the time he was done, he had found a total of 10 gems.
"That should be enough," he muttered, holding them up.
Now, there was only one thing left to do—make the grenades.
"Trixie!" he called again.
Trixie appeared instantly. "Yes, Master?"
"Guide me to the facility's workshop."
Trixie gave a short bow. "As you wish, Master. This way."
There now in workshop that he had already been cleaned earlier, making it one of the best-maintained places in the shelter.
Metal tools hung neatly on the walls that's he find while he clean, the workbenches were spotless, and various storage compartments were now organized.
Standing in the middle of the room, Cris placed the gems on the workbench.
"Alright, now tell me how to make these grenades."
Trixie hovered over the table. "To create grenades, you'll need the following components…"
She projected a holographic blueprint, displaying the process of crafting.
Cris grinned.
"It's making time."
