Cris stretched his arms as he approached the storage room, stomach growling. After all that training, he needed food ASAP.
As he pulled open the door, his eyes widened.
Boxes upon boxes of food neatly stacked in rows, all organized perfectly.
"Whoa… Did I have this much food before?"
Trixie floated beside him, looking pleased. "I took the liberty of arranging everything efficiently, Master."
Cris blinked. "So you… cleaned and sorted all of this?"
Trixie nodded. "Of course! An optimized system leads to an optimized lifestyle!"
Cris let out a whistle. "Damn. Trixie, you're really making my life easy."
But then—
Sniff.
Something was off. A strange smell lingered in the air. His nose twitched as he scanned the shelves.
He followed the sour, rotten scent to one of the boxes. Hesitating, he opened it—
"Gah—!"
He reeled back as a foul stench hit him full force. Inside, spoiled meat sat in a pool of blackened liquid.
Trixie analyzed the contents. "Master, this meat has expired due to the lack of proper storage conditions. There is no refrigeration unit or cold storage to preserve perishable goods."
Cris groaned, covering his nose. "Damn it. That's a waste of good meat."
He needed a solution fast.
Looking around, he pulled up the blueprint interface for the storage room. A 3D holographic model appeared before him, showing the current layout.
His eyes scanned for an upgrade option—
"Trixie, can I upgrade the storage?"
"Yes, Master. However, you currently have 5SM, and a full workshop upgrade requires more."
Cris frowned, thinking. "Is there a way to only upgrade certain parts?"
Trixie's screen flickered. "Yes! If you select the blue button, you can access modular upgrades instead of a full renovation."
Cris tapped the glowing blue button.
Suddenly, new options appeared.
1. Cold Storage – Preserves meat and perishable goods. (Cost: 5SM)
2. Additional Storage Space – Increases storage capacity. (Cost: 4SM)
3. Durability Reinforcement – Strengthens walls and shelves. (Cost: 6SM)
Cris smirked. "Bingo."
He immediately selected Cold Storage.
[5SM has been deducted.]
The nanobots whirred to life, emerging from the walls like a swarm of silver insects. They immediately began digging into the ground, carving out a new room.
A larger supervisor bot hovered nearby, issuing commands to the nanobots. It turned to Cris.
"DO NOT APPROACH UNTIL CONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE." it's say in it's text screen head.
Cris raised his hands. "Yeah, yeah, I got it. Do your thing."
With the upgrade in progress, he turned back to grab a quick snack. He reached for a bag of chips—
"Master, there's movement outside the gate."
Trixie's voice cut through the moment.
Cris froze. "…What?"
Trixie's holographic display shifted, revealing a CCTV feed from the outer perimeter.
A figure stood outside the gate.
Cris narrowed his eyes. "Who the hell…?"
Grabbing his chips, he headed toward the surveillance room.
Who could be visiting him in a place like this?
